From June 2 to 4, the Republic of Belarus hosted the second staff talks on the organization and conduct of the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces command-and-staff exercise “Indestructible Brotherhood 2026” and the special exercise “Barrier 2026” involving the CSTO Joint CBRN Protection and Medical Support Formation.

October 10, 20`8 in the Kyrgyz Republic at the training ground of the training center of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan "Edelweiss", a solemn opening of a command-staff exercise with military contingents of the Collective Operational Response Forces of the CSTO "Cooperation-2018" was held. and Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Organization.
Airborne assault, motorized rifle and artillery units, special-purpose groups, as well as long-range, military transport, assault, army aviation and unmanned aerial vehicle crews take part in the maneuvers.
Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, said: “The special feature of the Interaction-2018 exercise is that it’s a command and staff focus and we focus on the coordination and preparation of the management bodies of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces. About 2,000 troops, 300 pieces of equipment, about 40 aircraft, including UAVs, are involved in the exercise.
Anatoly Sidorov noted that representatives of all CSTO member states are taking part in the exercise. It is not aggressive in nature, and is aimed at practicing actions to combat illegal armed groups, suppress terrorist activities and protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the CSTO member states.
“For the first time this year, the officers of the CSTO Joint Staff entered the command of the RRF. We use a large number of aviation from several states at this exercise, this will allow the crews to work out close cooperation with the troops operating on the ground, ”said Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov.
In turn, Lieutenant-General Yury Petrov, Deputy Commander of the Central Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, said at the opening ceremony that the situation taking shape in the Central Asian region, and above all the threats emanating from Afghanistan, was taken into account.
