Safar Umarzoda, Head of the Department for Countering Challenges and Threats of the CSTO Secretariat, took part in a special event (side-event) on "Countering Radicalization leading to terrorism and Extremism" organized by the Russian Federation on the margins of the OSCE Annual Conference on Security Review, where he reported on the measures taken by the CSTO on countering terrorism and extremism, and willingness to share the experience gained.

On 20 July 2024, in the Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a working meeting between Taalatbek Masadykov, the CSTO Deputy Secretary General and Special Representative of the CSTO Secretary General for Peacekeeping Activities, and Boris Michel, Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, was held.

The working meeting was also attended by staff of the CSTO Secretariat and representatives of the ICRC Regional Delegation in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the humanitarian situation in the CSTO's areas of responsibility and border regions in the context of growing international tension. The meeting participants noted the positive experience of planning joint ICRC and CSTO activities to disseminate knowledge of international humanitarian law and other legal norms applicable in situations of armed conflict and other situations of violence. They discussed the ICRC's proposals on the continuation of the positive practice of the participation of ICRC representatives in the conduct of classes on international humanitarian law in the system of professional training for military personnel of the CSTO Joint Staff.

They have discussed the procedure for coordinating the possible participation of ICRC representatives in the preparation and conduct of the joint CSTO trainings "Interaction-2024", "Indestructible Brotherhood-2024" and "Rock-2024" planned for 2024.

One of the important results of the meeting was the confirmation of mutual interest in carrying out joint work to develop cooperation between the CSTO Secretariat and the ICRC Regional Delegation in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus and to organize interaction on issues of mutual interest.
