On July 15, 2026, the High-Level Regional Meeting “Enhancing Capacities to Prevent the Supply of Weapons to Terrorists in Central Asia” was held in Moscow, organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism with the participation of the Russian side.
On July 14, 2026, a working meeting was held at the CSTO Secretariat between CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov and UN Assistant Secretary-General Alexander Zuev.
From July 7 to 9, second staff talks were held in the Russian Federation on the organization and conduct of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces (CRRF) command-and-staff exercise “Interaction-2026”, the special reconnaissance exercise “Poisk-2026”, and the logistics support exercise “Echelon-2026”.
In accordance with the 2026 Action Plan of the Coordinating Council of Heads of the Competent Authorities for Countering Illicit Drug Trafficking of the CSTO Member States, and as part of the Russian Federation's priorities during its 2026 CSTO Chairmanship, the sub-regional counter-narcotics operation “Kanal – Amber Coast” was conducted from June 29 to July 3, 2026. The operation was aimed at disrupting trafficking routes for narcotic drugs, their precursors and analogues, new psychoactive substances, and potent substances into the CSTO area of responsibility, neutralizing international transnational drug trafficking groups, dismantling clandestine drug production facilities, undermining the economic foundations of the drug trade, including the laundering of drug proceeds.
The 12th Southern Information Security Forum “Infoforum Sochi 2026” is taking place in Sochi, Russia, from June 30 to July 3. On July 1, the Forum's plenary session brought together representatives of federal and regional authorities, regulatory bodies, leading companies, and international organizations to discuss current challenges in the protection of critical infrastructure, the development of artificial intelligence, and international cooperation.
A Coordination Meeting of Chief Narcologists of the CSTO member states was held in St. Petersburg

On May 20–21, 2026, a Coordination Meeting of Chief Narcologists of the CSTO member states was held in St. Petersburg within the framework of the Russian Federation’s chairmanship in the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
The event, which was held in person with some delegations participating via videoconference, featured addresses by the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, representatives of the CSTO Secretariat and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, as well as presentations by representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russian Interior Ministry, the Russian Ministry of Education, the Military Medical Academy, the Coordination Council of Heads of Competent Authorities for Countering Illicit Drug Trafficking and the CSTO Secretariat, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and heads of narcological services of the CSTO member states.
The meeting was moderated by Chief Freelance Specialist Psychiatrist-Narcologist of the Russian Ministry of Health Svetlana Shport.
During the meeting, the chief narcologists of the CSTO member states discussed the situation related to non-medical drug use in the CSTO member states, as well as trends in the drug situation. The participants analyzed issues related to prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, including those abusing new types of psychoactive substances, coordination of interaction and organization of cooperation with law enforcement agencies and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in the field of drug control and demand reduction.
The participants exchanged best practices and methodologies in the field of preventing the use of psychoactive substances and preventing narcological disorders.
Agreements were reached on mutual internships for профильных specialists and on the implementation by the medical community of the Anti-Drug Strategy of the CSTO member states for 2026–2030 in the relevant areas.
The participants of the meeting of chief narcologists of the CSTO member states visited the St. Petersburg State Budgetary Healthcare Institution “City Narcological Hospital” and familiarized themselves with the work of the narcological service units of St. Petersburg.
The next Coordination Meeting is planned to be held in Tajikistan in 2027.
The Coordination Meeting of Chief Narcologists of the CSTO member states was established by a decision of the CSTO Committee of Security Council Secretaries in 2013.
