On 25 July 2024, staff of the CSTO Secretariat met with graduates of Central Asian universities in the fields of “International relations” and “Regional studies” who are participating in the International School of Diplomacy and are in Moscow at the invitation of the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization ‘National Research Institute for the Development of Communications’ and the Centre for International Strategic Studies of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Allow me to thank the Russian presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the invitation to take part in the debate on the interaction between the United Nations and regional organizations - the CSTO, the CIS and the SCO.

I highly appreciate my participation in the meeting of the main body of the World Organization responsible for maintaining global peace and international security. I am convinced that today's debate will contribute to the development of new, additional mechanisms for United Nations cooperation with the CSTO, the CIS and the SCO - the leading regional organizations operating in the Eurasian security space.

Imangali Tasmagambetov, the Collective Security Treaty Organization Secretary General, told BELTA news agency correspondent whether the CSTO sought to become a counterweight to NATO, the situation in the East European region of collective security, the role of Belarus in the organization, and what initiative of the President of Belarus had become important and timely for the CSTO.

The CSTO Secretariat held a meeting with media representatives on the occasion of the Press Day in Russia 15.01.2024

On 15 January 2024, the CSTO Secretariat hosted a meeting with representatives of leading news agencies, periodicals and television channels on the occasion of the Press Day in Russia. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The parties had a thorough and interested exchange of views on the role and place of the CSTO in the sphere of Eurasian security and the priorities of the Organization’s information policy. Yury Shuvalov, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat, conveyed a congratulatory message to the media representatives on behalf of the CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, spoke about the information, analytical and forecasting activities of the Organization, its cooperation with leading research centers in the member states and outlined the areas of work for 2024. In this context, the importance of cooperation with partner international organizations such as the SCO, the CIS, the EAEU and the BRICS was underlined.

Yury Shuvalov announced the launch of new media projects within the CSTO. One of them is the organization of the School of Young Newsmakers with the support of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The Centre for Socially Conservative Politics is expected to be one of the venues. It is also planned to support authors of scientific works on Eurasian security issues. To this end, it is planned to use the analytical media publication "Allies. CSTO", in which the best studies will be published. At the end of the year, their authors will receive awards in various categories.

Similar events are planned for the Press Days in other member states of the Organization.
