On May 25, 2026, a meeting took place at the Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) between CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation, Kazem Jalali.
On May 20, consultations of representatives (experts) of the defense agencies of the CSTO member states aimed at improving air defense and developing the CSTO Collective Aviation Forces were held via videoconference at the CSTO Joint Staff headquarters.

The CSTO Joint Staff held the first staff talks on the preparation of joint trainings with the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces)
From 1 to 3 April, the CSTO Joint Staff held the first staff talks on the organization and conduct of joint trainings with the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces), which in 2025 will take the form of a joint operational-strategic training “Combat Brotherhood-2025”.
Representatives of the interested ministries and departments of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the CSTO Secretariat and the CSTO Joint Staff, and the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center took part in the talks held under the general supervision of Lieutenant General Khasan Kaloev, First Deputy Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff.
In the course of staff talks, the following issues were considered and discussed: the objectives, content of the stages, timing and areas of the joint trainings; the preliminary composition of the command bodies and troops (forces) to be involved in the trainings; the organization of the management, coordination and comprehensive support of the trainings; the procedure for the participation in the trainings of representatives of non-CSTO member states and international organizations invited as observers; and the organization of demonstrations of new models of weapons, military and special equipment.
It is planned to pay particular attention during the joint trainings to the step-by-step work on the formation and alignment of commands, practical training in the deployment of command posts of troop groupings by the forces and means of the host states, and research into the organization of command and control with the involvement of specialists from basic training and methodological and research organizations.
There are plans to conduct a joint operational-strategic training entitled “Combat Brotherhood-2025” in the Eastern European and Central Asian regions of collective security this year:
in September - in the Republic of Belarus, a joint training with the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces “Interaction-2025”, special trainings with the forces and means of intelligence “Search-2025” and logistics “Echelon-2025”, the ideas of which are planned to be closely linked to the objectives of the joint strategic training of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation “West-2025”;
In mid-October, in the Kyrgyz Republic, an operational training session with the Command and a command post training with units of the Central Asian Region’s Collective Rapid Deployment Forces, “Rubezh-2025”;
in the second half of October - in the Republic of Tajikistan - a joint training with the Peacekeeping Forces “Indestructible Brotherhood - 2025” and a special training with a joint formation of NBC protection and medical support “Barrier - 2025”, which will be interlinked by a common socio-political situation, place and time of their conduct with the anti-terrorist training of the competent bodies of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States “Commonwealth-Antiterror - 2025”.
Joint operational and combat training activities will be conducted in accordance with the plan approved by the Council of Ministers of Defense and the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Councils in order to maintain the readiness of CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) to respond adequately to crisis situations and to carry out tasks to ensure collective security.
As a result of the agreements reached during the staff talks, a protocol was signed and sent in due course to the Organization's member states for the organization of further work.
