“Indestructible Brotherhood-2024": The CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces began the active phase of the training in the Republic of Kazakhstan
In Kazakhstan, a joint command-staff training with the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces (CPF) began practicing combat training tasks at checkpoints, roadblocks and refugee reception points, escorting convoys and cargoes, and providing humanitarian assistance. On the eve of the training, Major General Almaz Dzhumakeyev, head of the training, presented the commander of the CPF with a mandate to prepare and conduct a peacekeeping operation.
The training scenario assumes a situation created by one of the options for applying peacekeeping forces and resolving an internal conflict on the territory of a CSTO member state.
According to the training legend, the Collective Peacekeeping Forces, in accordance with a decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council, carry out tasks to maintain a ceasefire between the warring parties. In the area of responsibility, the units carry out mobile and foot patrols, guard and reinforce checkpoints, clear explosive ordnance, escort and deliver humanitarian supplies, evacuate civilians and provide medical assistance. In addition, peacekeepers ensure compliance with the terms of the ceasefire and act as mediators in negotiations between the parties to the conflict.
During one episode of the training, the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces repelled an attack on a base area and practiced blocking a simulated enemy.
A checkpoint of the Peacekeeping Forces base area was subjected to an armed “attack” by unknown persons. The combined peacekeeping unit, consisting of soldiers from Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, made fire contact with the attackers and repelled the armed attack. The operators of strike drones identified escape routes and a settlement where the simulated enemy had concentrated.
The peacekeepers' unit, consisting of the special-purpose unit “Berkut” of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, moved out of the base area, surrounded the “enemy” and blocked him in a populated area. The unit ensured the work of a rapid response team, which detained a detachment of an illegal armed group.
The active phase of the command-staff training with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces “Indestructible Brotherhood-2024” is taking place from October 1 to 5 on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. National contingents of the peacekeeping forces of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Russia and the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as operational groups of the CSTO Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat are taking part in the training. In total, the training involves more than 2,000 servicemen, 500 units of armored and motorized vehicles, Mi-17 and Mi-35 helicopters, Il-76 and Si-295 aircraft, and unmanned aviation.
