The active phase of the joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CRDF CAR) “Frontier-2026” has begun at the Koktal training range in the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the exercise, the participating forces are practicing the preparation and conduct of combat operations to destroy illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.
On September 11, 2026, a round table entitled “Kazakhstan–Central Asia–Greater Eurasia: resilience and security amid new challenges” was held at the Center for Social Conservative Policy. The event was organized by the CSTO Secretariat jointly with the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICCA RAS) and the Center for Social Conservative Policy (CSCP).
The event was attended by CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov, Director of the ICCA RAS Kirill Babaev, members of the CSTO Permanent Council and representatives of the academic and expert communities of the member states. The discussion was moderated by Yuri Shuvalov, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat.

BElTA correspondent reports that the Republic of Belarus views the CSTO as a guarantor of international and regional security, This was stated by the Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin during the working meeting of the heads of international military cooperation units of the Armed Forces of the CSTO member states.
As the Minister of Defense noted, the event was attended by those officials who were directly responsible for shaping the external agenda of each of the defense agencies of the CSTO states. "The Republic of Belarus views the Collective Security Treaty Organization as a guarantor of international and regional security, stability, as well as the collective protection of the independence and territorial integrity and sovereignty of the CSTO member states. I am convinced that this event is a unique opportunity to establish closer contacts. In addition, it will make it possible to discuss existing problems both on the internal and external levels and to discuss ways to solve them using the potential of the CSTO," the Minister said.
Viktor Khrenin added that it was equally important to develop common approaches aimed at the development and strengthening of the military component, to create conditions for the organization to become stronger and more united. The Minister of Defense emphasized that the Organization as a whole and the majority of its members had recently faced unprecedented pressure.
