On May 6, 2026, a meeting was held at the CSTO Secretariat between the CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykovand newly appointed Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the CSTO Vladimir Bespaly.
28 April marks the Day of the CSTO Joint Staff. It should be recalled that on 28 April 2003, in Dushanbe, the Collective Security Council, guided by the need to establish a military staff body responsible for implementing the military component of the Collective Security Treaty, adopted the Decision “On the Establishment of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”
On 27 April 2026, within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Contours of a New Architecture of Collective Security: Current Issues of Information and Analytical Partnership within the CSTO,” held at MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a round table entitled “Eurasian Analytical Platform: New Approaches in a New Geopolitical Reality” took place. During the event, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat Yuriy Shuvalov delivered a presentation on “The Eurasian Analytical Network: A New Cognitive Architecture of Collective Security.”
The CSTO trainings "Echelon-2021", "Search-2021" and "Interaction-2021" started in the Republic of Tajikistan

The opening ceremony of special trainings "Echelon-2021", "Search-2021" and joint training "Interaction-2021" took place on October 18, this year, at the training ground of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan "Kharbmaidon" within the joint operational-strategic CSTO training "Battle Brotherhood-2021".
Lieutenant General Emomali Sobirzoda, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan, welcoming the training participants, noted that the situation in the Central Asian region against the background of the events taking place in Afghanistan remained difficult and tended to escalate. The readiness of the assets of collective security to carry out the earmarked tasks took on great significance and relevance.
Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, speaking at the opening ceremony of the training, said: "We pay special attention to the Central Asian region. The main source of instability is the situation in and around the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. That's why for the first time we're conducting three simultaneous trainings as part of our joint training”. He wished the special training participants to demonstrate their best qualities: high professionalism, teamwork, and, if necessary, mutual assistance and support, and to confirm their readiness to act to ensure the collective security of our states.
In his turn, Lieutenant General Yevgeny Poplavsky, the Deputy Commander of the troops of the Central Military District, stated that the trainings were designed to improve the interoperability of military contingents of the CSTO member States and wished the participants successful fulfillment of combat training tasks.
A group of troops (Collective Forces) of the CSTO has begun to practice the tasks of preparing and conducting a joint operation to localize an armed border conflict associated with attempts to penetrate the territory of a member State of the Organization by militants of international terrorist organizations.
In the course of a special training with the assets of Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics of the CSTO troops (Collective Forces) "Echelon-2021" the issues of organization of Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics in the preparation and during a joint operation will be practiced.
A special training with reconnaissance forces "Search-2021" is aimed at practicing the organization and conduct of reconnaissance for the preparation and conduct of a joint operation.
Participants in the joint training with the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces "Interaction-2021", which includes airborne assault, armored infantry and artillery units and special purpose groups, will practice the preparation and conducting a joint operation to localize an armed border conflict.
Military contingents of the Organization's member States consisting of mobile formations and military units of permanent readiness equipped with modern weapons and military (special) equipment, task forces of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat, special-purpose force formations from special units of internal affairs (police) bodies, security agencies and special services, as well as authorized bodies in the field of emergency prevention and response took part in the trainings. In total, there are 4,000 people and more than 500 units of equipment.
