On 20 December, a joint training session was held between the duty shifts of the CSTO Crisis Response Center and the command posts of the defense and emergency ministries of the Organization's member states.
On 10 and 11 December, the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization hosted videoconference consultations of representatives of interested ministries and departments of the CSTO member states on the organization of joint training activities in 2026 for the CSTO collective security system's command and control bodies and formations.
On December 11, 2024, Taalatbek Masadykov, the CSTO Deputy Secretary General and Special Representative of the CSTO Secretary General for Peacekeeping, held a meeting with the delegation of the Monitoring Group (MG) of the UN Security Council Sanctions Committees 1267/1989/2253 on ISIS and “Al-Qaeda” and 1988 on the Taliban Movement.
On December 11, 2024, the 40th meeting of the Working Group on Afghanistan under the CSTO Ministerial Council was held with the participation of the CSTO Deputy Secretary General S. Ordabayev and the CSTO Deputy Secretary General T. Masadykov. The event was also attended by delegations of the Organization's member states and representatives of the UNOCT, the UNRCCA, the CIS ATC, the Coordination Service of the CIS Council of Commanders of Border Troops, the SCO RATS, and the ICRC.
On October 14, 2016, the CSTO Collective Security Council in Yerevan adopted a decision on approval of the Collective Security Strategy until 2025, as well as on additional measures to combat terrorism and create a Crisis Response Center

During the session of the Collective Security Council, which was held in a narrow composition and in plenary session, the heads of state decided to approve the Collective Security Strategy of the Collective Security Treaty Organization for the period until 2025. The presidents discussed the international situation and topical issues of collective security. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, who presided over the CSC session, stated that the document fixes the priorities of the Organization’s activities until 2025, fixes guidelines for further development in all major areas of cooperation. "Member States reaffirmed their determination to build relations with members of the world community on the basis of equality and indivisibility of security, to refrain in international relations from the threat or use of force, while giving priority to political and diplomatic methods in solving emerging problems. I believe that the adoption of the Strategy demonstrated a new quality of coordination in the CSTO, "stressed Sargsyan.
The decisions of the CSC on the creation of the CSTO Crisis Response Center were also signed, which is responsible for providing information, analysis, and organizational and technical support for the adoption of relevant decisions by the statutory bodies, as well as ensuring information exchange in real time, and on additional measures to counter terrorism. In particular, the Statute on the Formation of the Unified List of Organizations Recognized as Terrorist in the CSTO Format was approved, and the implementation of decisions of the Collective Security Council to improve the CSTO activities was reviewed.
The heads of state of the CSTO member states adopted a final Statement, reflecting our approaches to key international issues, gave an assessment of the current situation, taking into account, of course, new threats and challenges. The heads of state reaffirmed the role of the Organization as an essential tool contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability and the security, independence and sovereignty of its member states.
The Statement on the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict was also signed. As President Serzh Sargsyan noted, the CSTO partners expressed support for the agreements reached at the summits on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue organized this year in Vienna and St. Petersburg aimed at preventing the situation from conflict zone, stabilization of the situation and creation of conditions for the advancement of the peace process. "The session reaffirmed the need for an exclusively peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, expressed support for the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to resolve the conflict based on the norms and principles of international law, the provisions of the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, in particular, on the non-use of force or the threat of force, territorial integrity of states, equality and the right of people to self-determination, "said Serzh Sargsyan, summing up the results of the CSC session in Yerevan. The heads of the CSTO member states signed statements "On the Impact of Unilateral Actions to Deploy the Global Missile Defense System on International Security and Stability" and "On the Protection of the State Borders of the CSTO Member States."
The decision of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization "On the Action Plan dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the Collective Security Treaty Organization" was taken, to be celebrated on May 15, 2017.
CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha in his annual report informed about the activities of the CSTO in 2015-2016. and the implementation of decisions taken at the previous session of the CSC.
In 2016-2017 The chairmanship of the CSTO from the Republic of Armenia was transferred to the Republic of Belarus, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko became the chairman of the CSC. During the meeting of the Collective Security Council, documents were also signed concerning the further development of the military component of the Organization, the development of the training system for military personnel, and the standardization of weapons and military equipment within the CSTO. The purpose of these documents is to make military and military-technical cooperation more meaningful, to launch work formats adapted to today's requirements. Separately, Serzh Sargsyan noted the signed documents regulating the activities of the CSTO Joint Staff. They are aimed at improving the structure, strength and distribution of quota posts of the headquarters military personnel. The decision of the CSC "On the response of the CSTO member states to emergency situations" was also adopted.
Heads of CSTO member states in a narrow composition decided to remove from the agenda of the CSC meeting the question of the Secretary General of the Organization until the next meeting, which is supposedly scheduled for the end of December 2016 in St. Petersburg.
In total, more than 20 documents were signed.
The session was attended by the Chief of the Joint Staff of the CSTO, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov.
