In the opinion of the Secretary General of the association, even the logic of its creation, and not just the geopolitical situation, requires the development of military-industrial cooperation between the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization

ASTANA, March 1 - Sputnik. The CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov has discussed prospects for the development of military-industrial cooperation at a meeting with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Industry and Trade, Chairman of the CSTO Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation, Denis Manturov. This was reported by the press service of the Organization.

According to the parties, military-industrial cooperation for the member states of the association is one of the most sought-after areas of the CSTO work.

"A sufficient and solid legal framework has been created for the development of practical cooperation between domestic defense industry enterprises and defense sector enterprises in the member states," Denis Manturov noted.

The CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov recalled that the Organization had adopted more than sixty documents with the status of interstate treaties. And one-third of them concerned the development of military-economic cooperation. Tasmagambetov believes, that the time has come to implement them.

"It is necessary to implement practical measures to establish multilateral cooperation of defense industry enterprises of the CSTO member states for joint development and production of weapons and military equipment, creation of service centers for their maintenance and repair," the CSTO Secretary General said.

He believes that uniting the potential of military-industrial complex enterprises becomes especially relevant in the light of increasing tensions in the geopolitical situation around the world.

The press service of the CSTO noted that the parties also discussed the Organization's exhibition event in 2024, “The International Forum on Collective Security "Interpolitech".
