The Protocol amending the Agreement on Cooperation of the CSTO Member States in the Field of Transportation of Military and Other Formations, Their Movable Property, as well as Military Products, and the Protocol amending the Agreement on the Status of Formations of Forces and Means of the CSTO Collective Security System, signed during the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Astana on 28 November 2024, have entered into force.

The CSTO Secretariat is closely monitoring developments on the Afghanistan–Pakistan border. The Organization is interested in peace and stability in the region and proceeds from the understanding that the only viable solution is a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict.

The CSTO Military Committee has discussed the development of military cooperation. In the course of the meeting, challenges and threats to military security in the CSTO regions of collective security were discussed

On 20 April this year, the 22nd meeting of the Military Committee on the development of military cooperation among the CSTO member states was held via videoconferencing. The event was chaired by the Chairman of the Military Committee, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Valery Gerasimov. The meeting was attended by the Chiefs of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan, the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, as well as the CSTO Deputy Secretary General Takhir Khairulloyev, representatives of defense departments of the CSTO member states, the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat.

Major General Viktor Gulevich, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces - First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, made a presentation on the priority areas of the CSTO activities in the military sphere proposed by the Republic of Belarus during its presidency in the Organization in 2023 and measures to implement them.

Challenges and threats to military security in the regions of collective security of the CSTO were discussed at the meeting.

Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, made a report on progress in improving crisis response mechanisms, logistical support of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) and other areas.

Issues of improving the organization of flights in the airspace of the CSTO member states and international flights of the aviation of the armed forces of the CSTO member states were considered.

The Military Committee members have discussed joint training activities for the command and control bodies and formations of the CSTO collective security system in 2023.

Recall, that this year's set of trainings with the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) will be held in the form of a joint operational-strategic training "Combat Brotherhood”.

Joint and special trainings combining the training of various components of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) have been planned on the territory of the Republic of Belarus: joint training with the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces "Interaction-2023", special training with the forces and means of intelligence "Search-2023", special training with the forces and means of logistical support of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) "Echelon-2023", special training with the joint NBC protection and medical support formation "Barrier-2023" and a special training with units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, allocated to the formations of the special forces of the CSTO CRRF "Rock-2023".

At the final stage of the joint operational-strategic training "Combat Brotherhood-2023" it is planned to hold a joint training with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces "Indestructible Brotherhood-2023" on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

As a result of the discussion, it was decided, in particular, to continue the practice of conducting joint trainings with components of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) in conjunction with trainings of the armed forces of the CSTO member States and trainings with regional (united) groupings of troops (forces).

The next meeting of the Military Committee is planned to be held in the second half of 2023 in the Republic of Belarus, which is chairing the CSTO this year.

The Military Committee was established under the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Council of defense Ministers in accordance with paragraph 15 of the Provisions on the Collective Security Treaty Organization Defense Ministers Council, approved by the "On the Provisions on the Bodies of the Collective Security Treaty Organization” of 28 April 2003, for the purpose of operative examination of the issues of planning and use of the forces and means of the collective security system of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and prepare necessary proposals..

- First Deputy Minister of defense of the Russian Federation.

Members of the Military Committee are the Chiefs of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff.
