In Kazakhstan, a joint command-staff training with the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces (CPF) began practicing combat training tasks at checkpoints, roadblocks and refugee reception points, escorting convoys and cargoes, and providing humanitarian assistance. On the eve of the training, Major General Almaz Dzhumakeyev, head of the training, presented the commander of the CPF with a mandate to prepare and conduct a peacekeeping operation.
Today, in the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the training range “Bereg”, the opening ceremony of the active phase of the command-staff training with the Peacekeeping Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) “Indestructible Brotherhood-2024” was held.
On September 30, 2024, in Almaty, under the chairmanship of the First Vice-Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan T.S. Sultangaziev, the IV meeting of the Coordination Council of authorized bodies of the CSTO member states on biological security issues was held.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, on September 26, 2024, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu, a working meeting of foreign ministers of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) was held. This meeting occurs annually on the margins of the UN General Assembly.
On 25-26 September 2024, the IV International Conference on the Spread of Extremist Ideology, organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, was held in Moscow.

10.01.2023Imangali Nurgalievich TASMAGAMBETOV, appointed by the CSTO Collective Security Council to the post of Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, was presented by Alexander Volfovich, Chairman of the Committee of Secretaries of Security Council (CSSC) and State Secretary of the Security Council on January 10, 2023.
"The candidacy of Imangali Nurgaliyevich Tasmagambetov for this high post was nominated by the leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan and approved by a decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council on November 23, 2022. He will serve for three years until December 31, 2025," Alexander Volfovich said. He noted that Tasmagambetov held various government positions in the Republic of Kazakhstan in different years, he was Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan, the head of the Presidential Administration, headed the Government of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Education and Culture, and was Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Russia.
"I would especially like to note Imangali Nurgaliyevich's experience in the military and diplomatic sphere, which will certainly be in demand during the leadership of the CSTO, the key task of which is to ensure collective security. His vast experience as a politician and statesman allows us to be confident in the successful realization of the responsible mission of Secretary General of the CSTO entrusted to him. This will give a new impetus to our Organization in today's difficult times, increase the effectiveness of its response to contemporary challenges and threats, as well as strengthen the role and place of the CSTO in the system of international organizations responsible for maintaining regional security," the CSSC Chairman stressed.
Addressing the members of the Permanent Council and Deputy Secretaries General, Chief of the Joint Staff and heads of subdivisions of the CSTO Secretariat, Imangali Tasmagambetov said that his appointment as CSTO Secretary General was a great honor and a great responsibility. "I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the heads of CSTO member states for the trust to head the Organization's working structure. The world is witnessing major geopolitical challenges, and very complex political, economic and other problems have to be solved. The CSTO faces no less complex tasks. All these challenges and problems affect the key role of our Organization, its authority and ability to be an effective mechanism to ensure regional security. Its further prestige and efficiency depend on us. Despite all the challenges, I am deeply convinced that there is no alternative for the CSTO, it is capable of handling the tasks entrusted to it," new CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov said.
Imangali Tasmagambetov and Alexander Volfovich also had a bilateral meeting. The sides have discussed current international and regional security issues, exchanged views on the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility, discussed current challenges and threats in the Eastern European, Caucasus and Central Asian regions of collective security. Particular attention was paid to the coordination of efforts aimed at implementing the CSTO priorities in 2023.
