In accordance with the 2026 Action Plan of the Coordinating Council of Heads of the Competent Authorities for Countering Illicit Drug Trafficking of the CSTO Member States, and as part of the Russian Federation's priorities during its 2026 CSTO Chairmanship, the sub-regional counter-narcotics operation “Kanal – Amber Coast” was conducted from June 29 to July 3, 2026. The operation was aimed at disrupting trafficking routes for narcotic drugs, their precursors and analogues, new psychoactive substances, and potent substances into the CSTO area of responsibility, neutralizing international transnational drug trafficking groups, dismantling clandestine drug production facilities, undermining the economic foundations of the drug trade, including the laundering of drug proceeds.

The 12th Southern Information Security Forum “Infoforum Sochi 2026” is taking place in Sochi, Russia, from June 30 to July 3. On July 1, the Forum's plenary session brought together representatives of federal and regional authorities, regulatory bodies, leading companies, and international organizations to discuss current challenges in the protection of critical infrastructure, the development of artificial intelligence, and international cooperation.

On June 30 – July 1, 2026, Saint Petersburg hosted a series of events chaired by Alexander Kurenkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters, with the participation of heads of the competent authorities of the CSTO member states responsible for emergency prevention and response.

On March 28, 2019, in the CSTO Crisis Response Center under the direction of the Acting Secretary General of the Organization, Valery Semerikov , the final stage of a joint business game to develop solutions aimed at preventing and resolving crisis situations in the Organization’s area of ​​responsibility will be held.

  Today, during the second stage, the proposals of the leaders of the Crisis Response Center working groups and the operational groups of the CSTO member states on the use of the CSTO peacekeeping potential to resolve the crisis situation in the conditional state that is a member of the Organization were heard. Draft documents on the elaboration of measures of a political, diplomatic, and military nature were presented, taking into account the need to conduct a peacekeeping operation, which envisages the separation of the conflicting parties, the reception, accommodation of a large number of refugees and the provision of humanitarian assistance to them.

One of the elements of the final stage will be the meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council, which will be held for the first time at the Organization's Crisis Response Center. During the meeting, the participants of the Business Game will present conclusions from the conditional military-political situation in the zone of escalation of tension. Based on them, the members of the Permanent Council will consider draft decisions of the Collective Security Council, as well as the Councils of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the Organization for Crisis Management in several regions of collective security.

   Members of the CSTO Secretariat, representatives of the CSTO Joint Staff and operational groups of interested ministries and departments of the Organization's member states take part in the joint business game.

Spent during the game materials will serve as the basis for the preparation and holding a joint operational-strategic exercise "Combat Brotherhood - 2019", which is scheduled to be held this fall
