On October 30, 2024, the CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov met with Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov in Minsk. The CSTO Secretary General arrived in Minsk to participate in the II Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
The subregional anti-drug operation “Kanal-Avangard” was carried out in the territory of CSTO member states in order to suppress the flow of drugs, their precursors and analogues and new psychoactive and potent substances into the CSTO region of responsibility, to neutralize international transnational drug groups and to eliminate clandestine drug production and undermine the economic foundations of the drug business, including the legalization of drug profits.
The active phase of the “Rubezh-2024” joint training has been completed in the Republic of Tajikistan
21.10.2024The active phase of the joint training “Rubezh-2024” with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CAR CRDF), during which issues related to the preparation and conduct of combat operations to destroy illegal armed groups that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state were practiced, was completed today in the Republic of Tajikistan at the “Harbmaidon” training range.
According to the training legend, the simulated enemy crossed the state border in several directions. The border troops engaged in combat, but the forces and means were not enough, and the “enemy” advanced deep into the territory, taking settlements and civilians hostage.
To liberate the settlement, units of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the OMON “Alpha” were involved, which blocked it, freed the hostages and liquidated the “enemy”.
In order to prevent the main forces of the “enemy” from advancing, artillery, assault and army aviation were used by decision of the commander of the CAR CRDF. This allowed the “enemy” to be stopped and the units of the collective forces to occupy favorable defensive lines.
During the defensive battle, all types of weapons were used, and the issues of fire transfer and concentration were worked out, which created favorable conditions for the counterattack. In the course of the counterattack, units of the CAR CRDF defeated the “enemy” units that had been halted.
In order to prevent the approach of “enemy” reserves, a tactical airborne landing was carried out, which successfully accomplished the task. Subsequently, units of the CAR CRDF restored the position along the state border.
Colonel General Sherali Mirzo, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, speaking at the closing ceremony of the joint training “Rubezh-2024” with the CAR CRDF, said in particular that “various terrorist extremist forces have not abandoned their destructive intentions and continue to be active in different regions of the world, including in the immediate vicinity of the CSTO zone of responsibility.
Against the background of the growing aggravation of the situation and the expansion of challenges and threats to security, the issues of the readiness of the forces and means of collective security to carry out their earmarked tasks and the solution of urgent tasks of collective response to existing dangers are acquiring particular relevance. All these circumstances require us to respond adequately, including by taking the necessary measures to strengthen the protection of the CSTO's southern borders.
In this context, work is being carried out on a permanent basis within the CSTO's statutory bodies aimed at improving the military component of cooperation, enhancing the combat readiness and material and technical equipment of the collective forces and means and their mobility. To that end, joint trainings and training sessions are being held, a constant exchange of information is being established and a whole range of other steps have been taken to strengthen the Organization's potential.
In recent years, there have been fundamental changes in the tactics of combat operations, the nature of the actions of various terrorist groups is changing, and they are acquiring new means and weapons. The Organization's member states have also acquired considerable experience in countering modern threats and countering terrorist groups, which has been reflected in the decisions adopted within the CSTO and a number of documents regulating the procedure for joint action by our military contingents. In the course of joint trainings, we are practicing new methods of conducting operations and sharing experience. Through testing, we are identifying effective ways of neutralizing threats and countering armed groups.
As we have seen today, the personnel of the units have performed the practical activities perfectly, accomplishing the combat tasks in full, showing high professionalism, mobility and precise interaction. The results of the events and the quality of the performance of the assigned tasks speak of one thing: the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian region, as an important component of the forces and means of the collective security system, are capable of responding promptly to challenges and threats to security in the region of responsibility and repelling armed attack. In this connection, I express my gratitude to all participants for their demonstrated professional skills, excellent combat training, mobility and precise interaction in difficult weather conditions and a situation as close to combat as possible.
In conclusion, I would like to congratulate all the participants on the success of the training and wish them further success in the difficult but responsible and honorable military service”..
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the joint training “Rubezh-2024” with the CAR CRDF, Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, said: “Today the active phase of the joint training “Rubezh” with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian region has been completed and at the same time the entire planned set of trainings with the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) in 2024 has been completed.
It should be noted that the situation in the Central Asian region continues to be extremely complex. Its development is mainly influenced by the activities of numerous terrorist and extremist organizations. At the same time, according to analysts' assessments, no decrease in tension in the region is expected in the short term. In these conditions, the main tasks of the CAR CRDF remain readiness to repel external military aggression, to counter terrorist challenges and to respond in a timely manner to threats to national and regional security.
The collective force control bodies, units and subunits carrying out practical tasks in the difficult conditions of mountainous and desert terrain demonstrated high professionalism, combat training and coherence.
Contingents from the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Russia and the Republic of Tajikistan took part in the training. At all stages of the training, issues of air defense, the use of UAVs and electronic warfare were practiced.
I believe that the objectives of the joint training have been achieved.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the first training with the CAR CRDF. All these years have seen their establishment, progressive development and improvement. The operational and combat training activities conducted with the commanders and units of the CAR CRDF are aimed at improving their readiness to carry out tasks to repel external military aggression and conduct joint counter-terrorist operations.
This training was another step in the development of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces). We can confidently state that the CAR CRDF is moving to a qualitatively new level of training and is ready to confront modern challenges and threats, which will contribute to the effective resolution of both national and collective tasks facing the CSTO.
In addition, the unity of views among states on issues of ensuring collective security and the Organization's capabilities and determination to ensure the protection of collective interests in its area of responsibility have been clearly demonstrated.
Of course, it is also necessary to mention such an aspect as the personal interaction between the servicemen of our states during joint trainings, which is the main condition for the formation and maintenance of the spirit of combat brotherhood.
Thank you to the leadership and all training participants for a job well done!
I wish the training participants an orderly return to their deployment locations and further success in their combat training”..
