On September 29–30, 2026, the 6th International Conference of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation on the spread of extremist ideology was held in Moscow. The CSTO delegation, comprising Umar Umarzoda, Head of the Department for Countering Challenges and Threats, and Igor Demchenko, Adviser to the Department, took part in the conference.

A round table entitled “Kazakhstan–Central Asia–Greater Eurasia: resilience and security amid new challenges” was held in Moscow 11.09.2026

On September 11, 2026, a round table entitled “Kazakhstan–Central Asia–Greater Eurasia: resilience and security amid new challenges” was held at the Center for Social Conservative Policy. The event was organized by the CSTO Secretariat jointly with the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICCA RAS) and the Center for Social Conservative Policy (CSCP). The event was attended by CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov, Director of the ICCA RAS Kirill Babaev, members of the CSTO Permanent Council and representatives of the academic and expert communities of the member states. The discussion was moderated by Yuri Shuvalov, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat.

The participants discussed in detail issues related to the constitutional reform and elections to the Kurultai held in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the context of ensuring various aspects of security in Central Asia.

The materials from the round table will be used in preparing the conceptual report “The CSTO as a space for security and development: prospects for inter-platform cooperation,” which is scheduled to be presented at a working session of the CSTO Secretariat as part of the 4th Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security in November 2026.
