On June 23, 2026, a ceremonial event was held at the Advanced Training Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation to mark the 20th anniversary of the CSTO Collective Security Council's decision granting the Institute the status of the Basic Educational Institution for Continuing Professional Education of law enforcement and special service personnel of the CSTO member states in the fields of counterterrorism, combating extremism, illicit drug trafficking, illegal migration, and other forms of transnational organized crime, as well as for the training of specialists for peacekeeping missions and teaching staff of educational institutions.
85 years ago, the Great Patriotic War began. The war machine of Nazi Germany launched a treacherous attack against Soviet cities and villages and committed unprecedented atrocities against Soviet citizens. The peoples of the Soviet Union rose to defend their common Motherland and paid an enormous price for peace, freedom, and the right to live on their own land.
On June 17–18, 2026, CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov visited sections of the State Border of the Republic of Belarus with Poland and Lithuania.
On June 18, 2026, the 24th Meeting of the Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (ICMEC CSTO) was held in Minsk on the sidelines of the 3rd International Security Industry Exhibition “National Security. Belarus 2026”. The meeting was chaired by Dmitry Stefanovich, Head of the Belarusian National Section of the ICMEC and Deputy Chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry of the Republic of Belarus.
On June 18, 2026, the 2nd Military-Economic Conference of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, entitled “Development of Cooperation among the Defense Industries (Military-Industrial Complexes) of the CSTO Member States: 20 Years of Practical Cooperation”, was held in Minsk on the sidelines of the 3rd International Security Industry Exhibition “National Security. Belarus 2026”. The event brought together representatives of relevant ministries, agencies, defense enterprises, and other institutions and organizations of the CSTO member states.
The CSTO Joint Staff held the first staff talks on preparations for trainings with the Collective Forces
From March 28 to 30, the first staff talks on the organization and conduct of joint trainings with the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) planned for 2023 were held in the CSTO Joint Staff.
Representatives of concerned ministries and agencies of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the CSTO Secretariat and the CSTO Joint Staff took part in the talks.
In 2023, a complex of trainings with the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) will be conducted in the form of a joint operational and strategic training "Combat Brotherhood", which is the highest form of joint training in the format of the Organization. All elements of the collective security system will be involved in different regions of the CSTO zone of responsibility.
In the course of the talks, the basics of joint trainings, as well as the composition of control bodies and troops involved in the trainings, the organization of leadership and comprehensive support of joint and special trainings were considered and discussed.
A complex of activities is planned as part of the joint operational and strategic training "Combat Brotherhood-2023".
It is planned to conduct a Joint business game using the technical capabilities of the CSTO Crisis Response Center and control points of the national agencies of the CSTO member states. Representatives of the CSTO Secretariat, the CSTO Joint Staff and task forces of the concerned ministries and departments (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, the Interior Ministry (police, internal troops (National Guard), security agencies, bodies authorized to prevent and eliminate the consequences of emergencies, drug trafficking control, etc.) of the CSTO member states will participate in it.
Joint and special trainings are planned on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, combining the training of various components of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces):
joint training with the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces "Interaction-2023" with training on the use of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system to resolve the crisis situation in the Eastern European region of the CSTO collective security;
special training with reconnaissance forces and means "Search-2023";
special training with the forces and means of Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics support of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) "Echelon-2023".
For the first time in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, a special training "Barrier-2023" will be conducted with the joint NBC protection and medical support formation. A special training is also planned with units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations allocated to the "Skala-2023" formations of the CSTO Collective Security Treaty Organization special-purpose forces.
At the final stage of the joint operational and strategic training "Combat Brotherhood-2023" in the Central Asian region of collective security it is planned to conduct a joint training with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces "Indestructible Brotherhood-2023". On the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic the tasks of post-conflict settlement in the crisis zone will be practiced by conducting a peacekeeping operation with the use of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system in the interests of maintaining peace and security.
The practice of involving representatives of defense agencies and basic training and research organizations in joint trainings in order to study current problems of the development of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system will continue during operational and combat training activities.
