The CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov took part in the final stage of the joint tactical and special training “Rock-2024” with units of the bodies authorized in the field of prevention and elimination of consequences of emergency situations of the CSTO member states. The event took place at the basic training ground for the CSTO rescue units “Rock City-Astana”.
From 3 to 6 September, participants in the command-staff training with the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces “Interaction-2024”, the special trainings “Search-2024” and “Echelon-2024” are regrouping in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Issues related to the preparation of proposals for the deployment and use of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces in the Central Asian region of collective security are being worked out in the period from 3 to 4 September during a joint training session of the CSTO Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat in Moscow on the basis of the Crisis Response Centre.
On September 3, 2024 in Moscow, in accordance with the Plan of consultations of representatives of the CSTO member states on foreign policy, security and defense issues for 2022-2024 (item 7), consultations of representatives of the CSTO member states on the agenda of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly were held.
The Chief of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Colonel-General Andrei Nikolaevich Serdyukov, has today given a briefing on the subject of “Preparedness of the CSTO Collective Security Treaty Organization's management bodies and formations of forces and means for the conduct of joint trainings”.
Representatives of the press services of the defense departments and mass media of the CSTO member states took part in the event via videoconferencing.
The Novosibirsk Region hosted the CSTO training “COBALT-2024” led by the Rosgvardia

From August 12 to 16, this year, at the “Gorny” firing range of the Siberian District of the Rosgvardia (Novosibirsk region), in accordance with the Plan of joint training of management bodies and formations of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system for 2024, a special training was held with special units of internal affairs, national security, internal troops (national guard), special and anti-drug services, as well as emergency rescue and firefighting structures that are part of the special forces formations of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces (CRRF FSSN) under code name “Cobalt-2024”.
Special forces from the CSTO member states, in conditions as close to combat as possible, perfected their skills in conducting an independent special operation, while the leadership staff, consisting of representatives of the CSTO member states, worked out the issues of planning the operation, making decisions on its conduct and organizing the management of the units' actions. A field command post was set up to manage the special operation.
Within the framework of the training, practical actions of combined task forces of special forces were practiced while solving earmarked tasks as well as competitions in tactical firing from combat weapons were held.
The training involved armored vehicles, special transport, strike drones and combat aviation.
Observers from the Anti-Terrorist Center of the CIS member states and the the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure attended the training.
Colonel General Vladislav Ershov, the Deputy Director of the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation, was in charge of the training.
The CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov took part in the active phase of the training. In summarizing the results, he noted the importance of such events in the overall training system for the units and subunits that are the part of the CSTO Collective Forces. He also praised the professional training and coaching of the officers and servicemen of the special units of all CSTO member states.
In his speech, the Deputy Head of the Rosgvardiya V. Ershov thanked all participants of the training for their high level of organization and responsibility in carrying out the assigned tasks. He noted the high coherence of the actions of the various forces and means involved in the training.
At the end of the training, a detailed review was conducted. The most distinguished officers and servicemen were rewarded.
On the eve of the training, an educational and methodological session was organized with the senior staff of the command and control bodies from among the interested ministries and departments of the CSTO member states, as well as the commanders of the units that make up the CRRF FSSN. The purpose of the training session was to improve the professional skills of its participants in the training of units, their combat coherence and the organization of cooperation in carrying out their earmarked tasks. The training sessions were both theoretical and practical in nature. Particular attention was paid to the organization of the management of special-purpose units during the preparation and conduct of joint and independent special operations to combat terrorism, extremism, transnational organized crime and drug trafficking.
