The Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov received the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CSTO member states and the Secretary General of the Organization in Cholpon-Ata on June 30. The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

Safar Umarzoda, Head of the Department for Countering Challenges and Threats of the CSTO Secretariat, took part in a special event (side-event) on "Countering Radicalization leading to terrorism and Extremism" organized by the Russian Federation on the margins of the OSCE Annual Conference on Security Review, where he reported on the measures taken by the CSTO on countering terrorism and extremism, and willingness to share the experience gained.

The CSTO, CIS, SCO High Administrative Officials meet in Moscow 09.10.2024

On October 9, 2024, the traditional 12th meeting of the CSTO, CIS and SCO High Administrative Officials was held in Moscow. It was attended by the CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, the CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev, the SCO Deputy Secretary General Nurlan Ermekbayev.

In a friendly atmosphere, the Heads of the Executive bodies of the three largest Eurasian organizations exchanged views on topical issues of the international situation and experience of work in priority areas of activity, discussed proposals for further development and strengthening of mutual cooperation in the field of regional security and countering new challenges and threats.

Mr. Tasmagambetov noted, in particular, that “the three Eurasian regional organizations have a common task - to strengthen security and stability in a large part of the Eurasian continent, including through the development of partnerships”. Special mention was made of “the closeness or coincidence of the basic political principles and key provisions of the charters of the CSTO and the CIS with the “Shanghai spirit”. The heads of the secretariats unanimously expressed the view that regional security organizations have an increasingly important role to play in maintaining global peace and preventing and overcoming instability. The three organizations together, each with its own profile, aim to form a new Eurasian security, economic and humanitarian architecture. In this way, integration projects will be interfaced and the relations of development centers in Eurasia will be harmonized.
