On July 7, this year, Dushanbe hosted working meetings between the Head of the CSTO Joint Staff and the leadership of ministries and departments of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Tajikistan.

Colonel General Sherali Mirzo, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, briefed the task force, headed by Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, on the current military-political and military-strategic situation in the region, caused by the escalation of armed confrontation in the territory of Afghanistan and in the Tajik-Afghan border zone.
They discussed the measures being taken and planned to be taken to neutralize risks, challenges and threats to collective security. The questions of increasing the intensity of joint operational and combat training of the defense departments of the CSTO member States and the provision of military and military-technical assistance were considered.
Colonel General Rajabali Rakhmonali, Commander of the Border Troops of the State Committee on National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan, discussed the departure of citizens, including soldiers with weapons and military equipment, of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Humanitarian response capabilities were discussed at a working meeting between the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff and Lieutenant General Rustam Nazarzoda, Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan. A set of measures to prepare in advance for the rapid deployment of the assets of the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan was considered.
The situation on the Tajik-Afghan border was discussed with the Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Tajikistan, Igor Lyakin-Frolov. The high level of responsibility of the officials of the Republic of Tajikistan regarding the readiness of the border troops, armed forces, ministries and departments of the Republic of Tajikistan to respond in case of further deterioration of the situation was noted. Possibilities of using the potential of the CSTO member States were also discussed.
The main objectives of the task force headed by Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, are monitoring and analysis of the situation in the Tajik-Afghan border zone and preparation of proposals for joint measures within the CSTO format.
