28 April marks the Day of the CSTO Joint Staff. It should be recalled that on 28 April 2003, in Dushanbe, the Collective Security Council, guided by the need to establish a military staff body responsible for implementing the military component of the Collective Security Treaty, adopted the Decision “On the Establishment of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”
On 27 April 2026, within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Contours of a New Architecture of Collective Security: Current Issues of Information and Analytical Partnership within the CSTO,” held at MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a round table entitled “Eurasian Analytical Platform: New Approaches in a New Geopolitical Reality” took place. During the event, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat Yuriy Shuvalov delivered a presentation on “The Eurasian Analytical Network: A New Cognitive Architecture of Collective Security.”

29.12.2020On December 29, this year, under the chairmanship of the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan Hasan Sultonov, the 70th meeting of the Permanent Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in 2020 was held by videoconferencing. The CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas took part in the meeting.
The issue of the draft Action Plan for the Implementation of the Decisions of the Session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on December 2, 2020, and the implementation of the priority areas proposed by the Republic of Tajikistan for the period of its chairmanship in the CSTO was considered. It was decided to send the document to the ministries of foreign affairs of the CSTO member states.
In the course of the meeting, discussions continued on a number of draft political statements related to the fight against terrorism, the prohibition of the development and production of new types of weapons of mass destruction, efforts to stabilize the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as ensuring comprehensive stability in the world. Work on these draft documents will continue at subsequent meetings of the CSTO Permanent Council in 2021.
The Permanent Council also discussed the issue of advisory activity of experts from involved governmental agencies of the CSTO member states on the development of relevant documents on biological safety issues.
At the end of the meeting, the participants wished everyone a Happy New Year and wished successful activities of the Organization in 2021, as well as stability, peace and security to the CSTO member states.
