28 April marks the Day of the CSTO Joint Staff. It should be recalled that on 28 April 2003, in Dushanbe, the Collective Security Council, guided by the need to establish a military staff body responsible for implementing the military component of the Collective Security Treaty, adopted the Decision “On the Establishment of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”
On 27 April 2026, within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Contours of a New Architecture of Collective Security: Current Issues of Information and Analytical Partnership within the CSTO,” held at MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a round table entitled “Eurasian Analytical Platform: New Approaches in a New Geopolitical Reality” took place. During the event, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat Yuriy Shuvalov delivered a presentation on “The Eurasian Analytical Network: A New Cognitive Architecture of Collective Security.”

On July 17, 2025, the CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov took part in an international conference at the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies: "The fight against international terrorism: approaches and Russia's contribution."
Alexander Manilov, Chairman of the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops of the CIS member states, Sergey Zubkov, Deputy Head of the CIS Antiterrorist Center, and Artur Golovanov, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Antiterrorist Structure, also participated in the discussion.
Valery Semerikov has informed the conference participants about the activities of the CSTO in the field of countering terrorism. He noted, in particular, that a serious legal framework for collective action has been formed within the Organization, mechanisms for cooperation between the competent services of the member states are actively developing, permanent operations "Mercenary", "Channel", "Illegal", "PROXY" aimed at combating terrorism, drug trafficking, illegal migration and crimes in the digital environment are conducted.
The CSTO Deputy Secretary General stressed the need to further develop international cooperation in the field of the Organization's international security, mentioning such multilateral structures as the UN, the CIS and the SCO among the Organization's key partners.
In the context of fulfilling the tasks of ensuring security in the CSTO area of responsibility, Valery Semerikov also emphasized the importance of implementing a Special Interstate Policy for strengthening sections of the Tajik-Afghan Border.
