On May 19, 2025 in Bishkek, under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz side, a meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly was held, during which the Secretary General of the Organization Imangali Tasmagambetov made a report on the theme: “On the implementation of decisions (November 2024) session of the CSTO SCS and measures taken to counter challenges and threats to collective security”.
On May 12, 2025, in Moscow, in the Red Banner Hall of the Frunze Central House of the Russian Army, a solemn event dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty (May 15, 1992) was held.
Delegation of the CSTO Secretariat headed by the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization will take part in the 13th international meeting of high representatives in charge of security issues.
On May 13, 2025, the 41st meeting of the Working Group on Afghanistan under the CSTO Ministerial Council was held with the participation of CSTO Deputy Secretary General Samat Ordabaev. The event was also attended by delegations of the Organization's member states and representatives of the UNOCT, the UNRCCA, the CIS ATC, the CIS Coordination Service of the CIS Council of Commanders of Border Troops and the ICRC.
Consultations of representatives of the CSTO member states on the agenda of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly were held
On 6 September 2023, Moscow hosted consultations of representatives of member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on the agenda of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
The event was attended by plenipotentiaries of the CSTO member states, heads of relevant departments of the foreign ministries, staff of embassies and permanent missions of the member states and the CSTO Secretariat.
Participants stressed the need to restore the UN's role as a central coordinating mechanism in reconciling the interests of the UN member states and their efforts to achieve the goals of the UN Charter, while preserving its intergovernmental nature.
An exchange of views was held on the UN Secretary General's "New Agenda for Peace" initiative.
The prospects for involving the CSTO's potential in the UN peacekeeping activities on the basis of the updated legal framework in this area were discussed. The importance of the Organization’s effective participation in global peacekeeping efforts was underlined.
A "clock check" was carried out on the situation in Afghanistan, focusing on taking the necessary measures to combat terrorism and drug trafficking and to normalize the situation in the country. The potential of the CSTO to prevent a worsening of the risks was noted.
The consultations once again confirmed the high degree of convergence in the approaches of the CSTO member states and their focus on further strengthening cooperation in the UN in the spirit of allied relations.
