From June 2 to 4, the Republic of Belarus hosted the second staff talks on the organization and conduct of the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces command-and-staff exercise “Indestructible Brotherhood 2026” and the special exercise “Barrier 2026” involving the CSTO Joint CBRN Protection and Medical Support Formation.
On June 3, 2026, a regular meeting of the CSTO Council of Defense Ministers (CDM) was held at the Patriot Central Park of the Russian Ministry of Defense under the chairmanship of the Russian side. The meeting has discussed the implementation of key tasks of the Organization during Kazakhstan's presidency.
The head of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that it was important for the CSTO to focus on the statutory areas of work, which were the most relevant and in demand for all member states. Special attention, in his opinion, should be paid to countering such challenges and threats as terrorism, illicit trafficking of drugs and weapons, crimes in the information sphere.
The President emphasized the importance of establishing constructive cooperation with other international structures in order to strengthen regional security.
Imangali Tasmagambetov has informed Kasym-Jomart Tokayev on the progress of implementation of the Action Plan adopted on the initiative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to implement the decisions of the November session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
The issues of preparation for the next Session of the Collective Security Council and the upcoming CSTO trainings were also discussed.
