On 20 December, a joint training session was held between the duty shifts of the CSTO Crisis Response Center and the command posts of the defense and emergency ministries of the Organization's member states.
On 10 and 11 December, the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization hosted videoconference consultations of representatives of interested ministries and departments of the CSTO member states on the organization of joint training activities in 2026 for the CSTO collective security system's command and control bodies and formations.
On December 11, 2024, Taalatbek Masadykov, the CSTO Deputy Secretary General and Special Representative of the CSTO Secretary General for Peacekeeping, held a meeting with the delegation of the Monitoring Group (MG) of the UN Security Council Sanctions Committees 1267/1989/2253 on ISIS and “Al-Qaeda” and 1988 on the Taliban Movement.
On December 11, 2024, the 40th meeting of the Working Group on Afghanistan under the CSTO Ministerial Council was held with the participation of the CSTO Deputy Secretary General S. Ordabayev and the CSTO Deputy Secretary General T. Masadykov. The event was also attended by delegations of the Organization's member states and representatives of the UNOCT, the UNRCCA, the CIS ATC, the Coordination Service of the CIS Council of Commanders of Border Troops, the SCO RATS, and the ICRC.
The CSTO Secretary General had a meeting with the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Moscow

On February 20 this year, the CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov met with the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergei Shoigu. They have discussed topical issues concerning the development of the military component of the Organization and the improvement of its force potential.
The meeting was held in the building of the Russian Ministry of Defense on Frunzenskaya Naberezhnaya in Moscow.
Imangali Tasmagambetov has informed Sergei Shoigu about the results of his recent visit to Minsk, where at a meeting with the Chairman of the Collective Security Council, the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the Action Plan was approved to implement decisions of the November (2022) session of the CSTO and fulfill the priority areas of the CSTO during the period of the Republic of Belarus presidency, which included a large section on the development of cooperation in the military and military-technical sphere.
"The Belarusian priorities are aimed at improving the readiness of the components of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to fulfill their tasks and strengthen the military and technical cooperation between the CSTO member states; they fully correspond to the current military and political situation and reflect the most urgent and promising directions of development of the military component of the Organization," the CSTO Secretary General stressed.
He informed the Russian Minister of Defense that in 2023 the Plan of joint training of formations of forces and means of the collective security system provided for a number of major trainings of the Collective Forces in the Republic of Belarus. "In September, the "Interaction-2023" training with the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces, a special training with the forces and means of intelligence "Search-2023" and "Echelon-2023" training with logistical support units are planned. The work on improvement of the management system of the Collective Forces is actively going on, in particular, in the field of communication," the CSTO Secretary General noted. He also added that it was proposed to hold a training with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces "Indestructible Brotherhood-2023" on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In turn, Sergei Shoigu congratulated Imangali Tasmagambetov on his appointment as the CSTO Secretary General. "I want to congratulate You immediately on your appointment to this important and responsible post, on which much depends in our Organization. I hope that Your vast experience as a statesman and now on an interstate level, considering Your experience, including that as Minister of Defense, where you have done much for the development of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will serve to further strengthen the authority of the CSTO both on the international scene and within each of the member states of the Organization," the Russian military minister said.
