On October 26, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IOS RAS) hosted an international scientific and practical conference entitled “The Domestic Political Situation in Afghanistan and Its Impact on the Security of Countries in the Region.” The conference was attended by representatives of the Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), as well as the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and scientists from relevant research centers in Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Pakistan, and other countries. The event brought together leading experts to develop balanced approaches to solving Afghanistan's pressing problems and assessing their impact on regional security.
Today, the final stages of joint training with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces “Indestructible Brotherhood-2025,” a special training with the joint formation of NBC protection and medical support for the CSTO “Barrier-2025,” and a joint anti-terrorism training of the competent authorities - participants of the Commonwealth of Independent States “Commonwealth-Anti-Terror-2025.” took place at the “Fakhrabad” training ground.
Today in Dushanbe, at the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, delivered a report at a meeting of the Coordination Council of the Chairmen of the Defense and Security Committees (commissions) on defense and security of the parliaments of the CSTO member states under the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.

Today in Dushanbe, a delegation of military personnel from the CSTO member states honored the memory of the heroic soldiers of the Great Patriotic War and laid flowers at the “Eternal Flame” memorial.

On February 13, this year, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus hosted a bilateral meeting between the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, and the CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov.
According to the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry, the Belarusian Defense Minister congratulated I. Tasmagambetov on his appointment as Secretary General of the CSTO.
During the meeting Viktor Khrenin briefed Imangali Tasmagambetov on the current military and political situation in the East European region of collective security, and also informed him about the priorities of the CSTO activities during Belarus' presidency in the Organization in 2023.
Among the main priorities of the Belarusian presidency the following were mentioned: improving the readiness of components of troops (collective forces) of the CSTO to fulfill earmarked tasks, strengthening military and technical cooperation of the member states and building the institutional capacity of the Organization in the information and analytical sphere.
Joint trainings (“Search-2023”, “Interaction-2023”, “Echelon-2023”, “Barrier-2023”) were noted as the main activities of operational and combat training, which are also planned in the Republic of Belarus during its presidency.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to further develop constructive dialogue in the format of the Organization.
