On February 13, this year, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus hosted a bilateral meeting between the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, and the CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov.

According to the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry, the Belarusian Defense Minister congratulated I. Tasmagambetov on his appointment as Secretary General of the CSTO.

During the meeting Viktor Khrenin briefed Imangali Tasmagambetov on the current military and political situation in the East European region of collective security, and also informed him about the priorities of the CSTO activities during Belarus' presidency in the Organization in 2023.

Among the main priorities of the Belarusian presidency the following were mentioned: improving the readiness of components of troops (collective forces) of the CSTO to fulfill earmarked tasks, strengthening military and technical cooperation of the member states and building the institutional capacity of the Organization in the information and analytical sphere.

Joint trainings (“Search-2023”, “Interaction-2023”, “Echelon-2023”, “Barrier-2023”) were noted as the main activities of operational and combat training, which are also planned in the Republic of Belarus during its presidency.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to further develop constructive dialogue in the format of the Organization.
