In Kazakhstan, a joint command-staff training with the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces (CPF) began practicing combat training tasks at checkpoints, roadblocks and refugee reception points, escorting convoys and cargoes, and providing humanitarian assistance. On the eve of the training, Major General Almaz Dzhumakeyev, head of the training, presented the commander of the CPF with a mandate to prepare and conduct a peacekeeping operation.

This meeting occurs annually on the margins of the UN General Assembly.

On January 31, 2019, a working meeting of CSTO Deputy Secretary General Piotr Tsikhanouski with the Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Russian Federation, Belarus and Moldova Magne Bart was held at the secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (Moscow).

The working meeting was also attended by staff and officials of the Secretariat and the CSTO Joint Staff, representatives of the ICRC Regional Delegation.

During the working meeting, a thorough exchange of views took place on issues relating to the state of cooperation between the CSTO Secretariat and the ICRC Regional Delegation and its improvement directions.

One of the important results is the confirmation of mutual interest in deepening the interaction between the CSTO and the ICRC to comply with the provisions of international humanitarian law applicable in armed conflicts, and to provide protection and assistance to people affected by armed conflict and emergency situations.
