On May 28, 2026, CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov took part in the International Security Forum held under the auspices of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. More than 150 delegations from 120 countries participated in the event.
On May 26 of this year, a round table entitled “35 Years of the Commonwealth of Independent States: Results, Tasks, and Prospects” was held at the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The event was attended by heads of integration structures in the post-Soviet space, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives of the embassies of CIS countries in Russia. Opening remarks were delivered by the moderator, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin.
On May 26, 2026, a regular meeting of the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils (CSSC) was held in Moscow under the chairmanship of the Russian side, with the participation of CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov. The participants conducted a substantive exchange of views on issues related to strengthening security in the CSTO area of responsibility.
On May 25, 2026, a meeting was held at the CSTO Secretariat between CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov, CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov, and Acting Director of the African Union Counter-Terrorism Centre Idriss Mounir Lallali.
The CSTO CSC session was held in Astana
On November 28, 2024, in Astana, a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The session was attended by the heads of the member states, the Secretary General of the Organization Imangali Tasmagambetov and Chief of the Joint Staff, Colonel General, Andrei Serdyukov.
The meeting participants have exchanged detailed views on the politico-military situation in the CSTO area of responsibility, discussed the results of cooperation and prospects for the further development of the collective security system. The results of the discussion are reflected in the Declaration of the Collective Security Council adopted during the session.
In order to further develop the collective security system, the heads of CSTO member states adopted a number of decisions aimed at further strengthening allied ties, enhancing foreign policy coordination and equipping the Organization's Collective Forces. Pursuant to an earlier decision of the CSTO CSC “On providing assistance to the Republic of Tajikistan to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border”, the CSTO Special Interstate Policy for strengthening sections of the Tajik-Afghan Border was approved, the implementation of which is envisaged for 2025-2030.
Special attention was paid to the preparation for the joint celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
The activities of the Kazakh side during its chairmanship in the CSTO were highly appreciated. It was decided to transfer the chairmanship from the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kyrgyz Republic from January 1, 2025, in connection with which the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov presented the priorities for the period of the Kyrgyz Republic's chairmanship in the Organization.
The next session of the CSTO CSC will be held in the fourth quarter of 2025 in Bishkek.
