In accordance with the 2026 Action Plan of the Coordinating Council of Heads of the Competent Authorities for Countering Illicit Drug Trafficking of the CSTO Member States, and as part of the Russian Federation's priorities during its 2026 CSTO Chairmanship, the sub-regional counter-narcotics operation “Kanal – Amber Coast” was conducted from June 29 to July 3, 2026. The operation was aimed at disrupting trafficking routes for narcotic drugs, their precursors and analogues, new psychoactive substances, and potent substances into the CSTO area of responsibility, neutralizing international transnational drug trafficking groups, dismantling clandestine drug production facilities, undermining the economic foundations of the drug trade, including the laundering of drug proceeds.
The 12th Southern Information Security Forum “Infoforum Sochi 2026” is taking place in Sochi, Russia, from June 30 to July 3. On July 1, the Forum's plenary session brought together representatives of federal and regional authorities, regulatory bodies, leading companies, and international organizations to discuss current challenges in the protection of critical infrastructure, the development of artificial intelligence, and international cooperation.
On June 30 – July 1, 2026, Saint Petersburg hosted a series of events chaired by Alexander Kurenkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters, with the participation of heads of the competent authorities of the CSTO member states responsible for emergency prevention and response.

The 21st meeting of the Council of the CSTO Consultative Coordination Center for Computer Incident Response was held
17.04.2026On 16 April 2026, the 21st meeting of the Council of the CSTO Consultative Coordination Center for Computer Incident Response (CCC CSTO) was held in Moscow, with the participation of delegations of representatives of national competent authorities for computer incident response of the Organization’s member states, as well as a delegation of the CSTO Secretariat headed by Umarzoda Umar Safar, Head of the Countering Challenges and Threats Department of the CSTO Secretariat.
During the meeting, chaired by Sergey Korelov, members of the CCC CSTO Council, representatives of the delegations of the CSTO member states and the CSTO Secretariat discussed current information security threats and methods of countering them.
The speakers noted a significant increase in the number of attacks, in particular those involving the NFCGate malware, as well as a rise in the number of compromised devices during public and political events. An increase in computer incidents related to contractors and counterparties of enterprises was also highlighted. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of monitoring protected infrastructure for any suspicious activity.
During the event, the participants exchanged views on current threats and on the issue of promptly communicating information on critical software vulnerabilities to the owners of vulnerable resources and responding to them. They noted the active development of information exchange among specialists of the CCC CSTO contact points, the growing number of joint activities, and the increased speed of response to computer incidents.
The participants expressed their appreciation to the Russian side, which is chairing the Organization, for organizing and holding, on the eve of the CCC CSTO Council meeting, the first specialized forum of the State System for Detection, Prevention and Elimination of Consequences of Computer Attacks (GosSOPKA).
