Statement by the CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty
15.05.2026
On May 15, we mark a significant date — the Day of the Signing of the Collective Security Treaty.
The decision adopted in Tashkent more than thirty years ago became a landmark event for the Eurasian space. The foundation laid at that time enabled us to build an effective system of collective security. The Organization continues to improve its mechanisms, adapting them to new realities, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the 1992 Treaty and the principles of equality, which continue to serve as an enduring guarantee of our peaceful future.
On this day, we pay tribute to the political wisdom of the leaders who stood at the origins of the CSTO and who, amid the turbulence of the era, were able to recognize the enduring value of allied relations. The solidarity forged over time, based on shared history and strategic partnership, continues to serve as a reliable shield against any attempts at destabilization.
We have come a long way from a political agreement to a multifunctional organization possessing substantial military-political potential. Coordination of foreign policy efforts, as well as joint counteraction to terrorism, drug trafficking and cyber threats, have become part of the daily practice of our close cooperation.
I am confident that in the future we will continue to jointly ensure security throughout the CSTO area.
Happy Day of the Signing of the Collective Security Treaty!
CSTO Secretary General
Talatbek Masadykov
