28 April marks the Day of the CSTO Joint Staff. It should be recalled that on 28 April 2003, in Dushanbe, the Collective Security Council, guided by the need to establish a military staff body responsible for implementing the military component of the Collective Security Treaty, adopted the Decision “On the Establishment of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”

From October 14 to 16 in Tajikistan at the Harbmaidon training range, an operational training session is being held with the command of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Collective Security Region (CRDF CAR) on the subject of “Fundamentals of training and combat operations of the CRDF CAR to destroy illegal armed groups that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state”.
Representatives of the defense agencies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and a group of officers from the CSTO Joint Staff are taking part in the event.
The objectives of the gathering are to develop common approaches to the organization of the work of the operational staff of the control bodies of the CRDF CAR preparation for combat operations, to improve the skills and consolidate the skills of officials, as well as the cohesion of the command and headquarters of the CRDF CAR on the eve of the active phase of the joint training “Rubezh-2024”, which will be held in October 17-21.
The event participants were familiarized with the analysis of challenges and threats in the Central Asian region, practical recommendations for organizing and conducting combat operations, and current trends in the use of air defense, electronic warfare, UAVs and countermeasures in armed conflicts. Officers of the command were also familiarized with the trends in the development of means of control, peculiarities of the use of forces and means of engineering troops,, troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection, organization of technical and logistics support of the CRDF CAR.
On October 16, a staff training will be held, during which officers of the command and headquarters of the CRDF CAR will work out the issues of planning and preparation of combat operations.
