Allow me to thank the Russian presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the invitation to take part in the debate on the interaction between the United Nations and regional organizations - the CSTO, the CIS and the SCO.

I highly appreciate my participation in the meeting of the main body of the World Organization responsible for maintaining global peace and international security. I am convinced that today's debate will contribute to the development of new, additional mechanisms for United Nations cooperation with the CSTO, the CIS and the SCO - the leading regional organizations operating in the Eurasian security space.

How did the lie turn into an instrument to belittle the role of Russia? The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev discusses this in a column written specifically for the“A&F” newspaper.

Lessons of the war

- We remember how many deaths and broken human destinies, how much pain, anguish and suffering the Nazi invaders and their henchmen brought to our land. In this confrontation between the good and the evil, in this struggle for national self-preservation, for freedom and life against the terrible aggressor aimed at genocide, millions of people showed miracles of courage, military and labor valor. Heroic servicemen and home front workers helped to reach the Victory in that war. Bitter trials fell on them. Hideous misfortunes and suffering fell on those who were captured and in occupation, those who suffered martyrdom but did not bent the knee to the enemy. The unity of the people increased the strength of our weapons.

For decades, the lessons of the Great Patriotic War remained a source of invaluable experience necessary for making important military, political, and managerial decisions. The Soviet military strategy, the actions of the Supreme High Command General Headquarters as elements of the theory and practice of military science are still in demand in military construction.

The defeat of fascist Germany by the Soviet Union made it possible to preserve the sovereignty and statehood of our country, to save the Soviet people and the peoples of Europe from decimation. Humankind has been rid of Nazi enslavement, a victory over the hateful ideology of world domination was won.

The experience of the Great Patriotic War shows that successes at the front and in the home front became possible only due to the solidarity of people, the unity of the army and people. The consolidation of society at all times is a prerequisite for national security.
