28 April marks the Day of the CSTO Joint Staff. It should be recalled that on 28 April 2003, in Dushanbe, the Collective Security Council, guided by the need to establish a military staff body responsible for implementing the military component of the Collective Security Treaty, adopted the Decision “On the Establishment of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”

On 27 April 2026, within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Contours of a New Architecture of Collective Security: Current Issues of Information and Analytical Partnership within the CSTO,” held at MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a round table entitled “Eurasian Analytical Platform: New Approaches in a New Geopolitical Reality” took place. During the event, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat Yuriy Shuvalov delivered a presentation on “The Eurasian Analytical Network: A New Cognitive Architecture of Collective Security.”

A working meeting with participants in a meeting of chairmen of committees (commissions) of the parliaments of CSTO member states with jurisdiction over international relations, defense and security issues was held at the CSTO Joint Staff 08.02.2024

On 7 February, participants in a meeting of the chairmen of the committees (commissions) of the parliaments of the CSTO member states, with jurisdiction over international relations, defense and security issues visited the CSTO Joint Staff.

Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, briefed the participants in the meeting on the activities of the Organization's Crisis Response Centre and the structural subunits of the Joint Staff. The delegation was informed of the main conclusions from the assessment of the politico-military situation in the collective security regions, the improvement of crisis response mechanisms and the main tasks of the Joint Staff for 2024.

The participants of the working meeting have discussed topical issues of improving the system of collective security, the implementation of priority areas of the CSTO for the period of the presidency of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Organization in 2024 and cooperation in the development of documents and joint activities.

Following the working meeting, Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov noted in particular that "the Joint Staff considers it important to continue to maintain close cooperation with the structures of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly in order to successfully resolve the tasks".
