Agenda approved: CSTO Parliamentary Assembly meeting in Yerevan
On November 5, the 12th plenary session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly is being held in the Armenian capital.
"We attach great importance to all three dimensions of cooperation within the CSTO - this is foreign policy coordination, military and military-technical cooperation, as well as security cooperation," said Pashinyan.
The modern world is rapidly transforming, the nature of threats is changing, which is why the head of the Armenian government believes that the organization must constantly adapt to new challenges.
In this context, the parliamentary component is important in terms of harmonization and approximation of the laws of the participating countries. This will increase the level of collaboration and the level of security in general.
The Prime Minister also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the participants managed to come to a common denominator on the appointment of the CSTO Secretary General. The parties agreed that some changes should be made to the relevant legislation in order to avoid any unforeseen situations.
Recall, after the recall of Yuri Khachaturov by Armenia from the post of CSTO Secretary General at the end of last year, some friction arose in the organization regarding the preservation by Yerevan of this post until 2020. It was not possible to appoint a new representative of Armenia to this post, but Belarus was also unable to advance her representative ahead of schedule. As a result, it was decided to assign functions to the Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov.
