28 April marks the Day of the CSTO Joint Staff. It should be recalled that on 28 April 2003, in Dushanbe, the Collective Security Council, guided by the need to establish a military staff body responsible for implementing the military component of the Collective Security Treaty, adopted the Decision “On the Establishment of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”
On 27 April 2026, within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Contours of a New Architecture of Collective Security: Current Issues of Information and Analytical Partnership within the CSTO,” held at MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a round table entitled “Eurasian Analytical Platform: New Approaches in a New Geopolitical Reality” took place. During the event, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat Yuriy Shuvalov delivered a presentation on “The Eurasian Analytical Network: A New Cognitive Architecture of Collective Security.”
Coordination meeting of chief narcologists of the CSTO member States took place in Yerevan

On September 8-9, 2022, in Yerevan, Coordination meeting of chief narcologists of the CSTO member States, within the framework of the Republic of Armenia's chairmanship in the Collective Security Treaty Organization, took place.
The event was moderated by the Chief Narcologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia Suren Nazinyan and the Deputy Secretary of the CSTO Coordination Meeting of Chief Narcologists and Advisor to the CSTO Secretariat Mikhail Melikhov.
Discussions were held on current areas of the Organization's anti-drug activities, the situation related to non-medical drug use in the CSTO member States, and trends in the development of the drug situation. The discussion also focused on the issues of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, including those who abuse new types of psychoactive substances, coordination of cooperation with the law enforcement and educational institutions. Presentations were made by representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Russia and the Republic of Tajikistan. They have discussed issues related to changes in the organization of drug addiction treatment in the CSTO member States and exchanged best practices and methodologies in the field of preventing the use of psychoactive substances and the prevention of drug addiction disorders - primary, secondary and tertiary, as well as inter-agency cooperation and its normative and legal support. A plan for further work by the Coordination Meeting of Chief Narcologists of the CSTO member States for the next year has been outlined.
The event participants visited the National Center for Addiction Treatment of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia and got acquainted with the structure and activities of this leading specialized medical organization and its subdivisions (clinical diagnostic and chemical toxicological laboratories, inpatient narcology departments, dispensary department, offices of narcologists, psychologists and social workers).
