On June 23, 2026, a ceremonial event was held at the Advanced Training Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation to mark the 20th anniversary of the CSTO Collective Security Council's decision granting the Institute the status of the Basic Educational Institution for Continuing Professional Education of law enforcement and special service personnel of the CSTO member states in the fields of counterterrorism, combating extremism, illicit drug trafficking, illegal migration, and other forms of transnational organized crime, as well as for the training of specialists for peacekeeping missions and teaching staff of educational institutions.
85 years ago, the Great Patriotic War began. The war machine of Nazi Germany launched a treacherous attack against Soviet cities and villages and committed unprecedented atrocities against Soviet citizens. The peoples of the Soviet Union rose to defend their common Motherland and paid an enormous price for peace, freedom, and the right to live on their own land.

Today, in Almaty, a delegation of CSTO member states laid flowers at the Memorial of Glory in the park named after 28 Panfilov Guardsmen.
The ceremony was attended by Colonel General Ruslan Zhaksylykov, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Taalatbek Masadykov, the CSTO Deputy Secretary General, Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Hero of the Russian Federation, and representatives of the command of military contingents of the CSTO member states. They all arrived in the Republic of Kazakhstan to take part in a command-staff training with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces entitled “Indestructible Brotherhood-2024”.
The ceremony traditionally began with a minute of silence and the solemn march of the honor guard company of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Paying tribute to the soldiers who heroically fell in the name of victory in the Great Patriotic War, the delegation visited a branch of the military-historical museum of the National Military-Patriotic Center, the head of which is the granddaughter of the legendary Major General Ivan Vasilyevich Panfilov - Alua Baikadamova.
She presented to the guests the exposition “History of the country - the history of the family”, which contains unique photos and personal belongings of the Hero of the Soviet Union Major General Ivan Panfilov. Alua Baikadamova told in detail the representatives of the CSTO member states about Kazakhstan's contribution to the common victory in the Great Patriotic War. The excursion ended with a tour of the hall dedicated to the feat of the 8th Guards Rifle Division under the command of Major General Ivan Panfilov, that showed bravery and heroism during the Great Patriotic War.
