On June 23, 2026, a ceremonial event was held at the Advanced Training Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation to mark the 20th anniversary of the CSTO Collective Security Council's decision granting the Institute the status of the Basic Educational Institution for Continuing Professional Education of law enforcement and special service personnel of the CSTO member states in the fields of counterterrorism, combating extremism, illicit drug trafficking, illegal migration, and other forms of transnational organized crime, as well as for the training of specialists for peacekeeping missions and teaching staff of educational institutions.

The CSTO Deputy Secretary General Piotr Tsikhanouski met with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross

On November 30, 2018, the Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO Piotr Tsikhanouski took part in the International Conference on International Humanitarian Law: "The 150th anniversary of the St. Petersburg Declaration on the abolition of certain explosive shells during the war: new contexts, former significance" organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of States Parties to the Commonwealth of Independent States in St. Petersburg.

In his speech at the plenary meeting, Piotr Tsikhanouski stressed the importance and timeliness of the conference, described the level of interaction between the ICRC and the CSTO Secretariat, and also drew attention to the need to establish close cooperation between the ICRC and the CSTO itself in areas of mutual interest.

A working meeting between Piotr Tsikhanouski and ICRC President Peter Mauer took place on the “margins” of the conference, during which there was a substantive dialogue on humanitarian issues relevant to both organizations, based on which mutual interest was expressed in improving the mechanism of interaction between the CSTO and the ICRC on compliance with the provisions of international humanitarian law in armed conflicts and emergency situations.
