Military units of the CSTO member States will participate in the strategic command and staff training "East-2022”
In the period from 1 to 7 September 2022, strategic command and staff training "East-2022" will be held under the charge of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
At the invitation of the Russian side, operational groups of command structures and military contingents from the CSTO member States and a number of other countries will take part in the training to practice joint actions as part of the Coalition grouping of troops (forces).
In accordance with the agreements reached, military contingents of foreign states have already arrived at the Sergeevskii training range in Primorsky Krai.
Colonel General Alexander Fomin, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia, said at a briefing that the priority in the development of the concept of the training was the step-by-step elaboration of options for the actions of troops (forces) in the interests of ensuring the military security of the Russian Federation and its allies in the zone of responsibility of the Eastern Military District. "The training is not directed against any particular states or military alliances and is purely defensive in nature. In order to practice the use of groupings of troops (forces) in the Eastern strategic area, a conditional state-territorial division has been developed and the formation of conditional coalitions within the opposing sides is envisaged," the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation noted.
