Today, in the Republic of Tajikistan, at the “Fakhrabad” training ground, as part of the special “Barrier-2025” training, a joint NBC protection and medical support unit of the CSTO trained practical actions aimed at eliminating sources of biological threats in the interests of the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces.

The personnel of the joint formation, led by Lieutenant Colonel Artem Pashkovich, carried out sanitary treatment of refugees arriving at the camp, disinfected vehicles, and practiced actions for creating an observation zone.

The main objectives of the “Barrier-2025” special training are to practice joint tasks performed by specialists from the chemical, biological, and radiological protection forces and medical support services, as well as to organize cooperation with national authorities authorized to respond to large-scale and rapid outbreaks of dangerous infectious diseases.

The joint formation includes specialists from the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Tajikistan. The joint formation is equipped with the latest military and special equipment. For the first time during the CSTO trainings, the RHM-8 reconnaissance chemical vehicle based on the “Tiger” armored vehicle and equipped with the latest radiation, chemical, and biological reconnaissance devices was used.

The main training issues addressed by the joint formation of NBC protection and medical support for the CSTO during the special training “Barrier-2025” are:

conducting NBC reconnaissance, collecting and analyzing samples;

actions during the special treatment of affected persons;

introducing a regime of observation in the affected area;

providing medical assistance and evacuating the affected persons.

It should be remind that from October 20 to 24, the Republic of Tajikistan is hosting the active phase of joint trainings with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces “Indestructible Brotherhood-2025” is taking place at the “Fakhrabad” training ground in the Republic of Tajikistan, during which issues related to the preparation and conduct of a peacekeeping operation on the territory of a member state of the Organization are being worked out.

For the first time, a special training is being conducted as part of the peacekeeping training with the joint formation of NBC protection and medical support for the CSTO “Barrier-2025”. In these trainings, the joint formation of NBC protection and medical support for the CSTO is operationally subordinate to the Commander of the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces. The main task of the joint formation during the training is to ensure the biological safety of the coalition group of troops.

Military contingents from the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, the Republic of Tajikistan, operational groups of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat are participating in the “Indestructible Brotherhood-2025” and “Barrier-2025” trainings. The Russian contingent is mainly made up of units from the 201st military base of the Central Military District, including mountain units, communications units, electronic warfare units, NBC protection units, medical units, and unmanned aerial vehicle crews. The total number of participants in the trainings is about 1,500 people and more than 200 units of military and special equipment, including six helicopters and more than 20 UAVs.

The active phases of the CSTO trainings will be conducted in a combined format with the final stage of the joint anti-terrorism training of the competent authorities of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, “Anti-Terror 2025.”
