During the “Echelon-2026” exercise, logistics support units practice operations taking into account the experience of the special military operation
In the Russian Federation, at the Chebarkulsky training range, a special exercise with the logistics forces and assets of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) “Echelon-2026” is being held under the leadership of Major General Sergei Spiridonov, Chief of Staff of the Logistics Support Directorate of the Central Military District.
The main objectives of the exercise are to improve the operational cohesion of command and control bodies and the practical skills of technical and logistics support units in preparing for and conducting a joint operation to localize a cross-border armed conflict.
Logistics support units have practiced tasks related to the regrouping of contingents, deployed in field conditions, and are practicing operations taking into account the experience gained by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during the special military operation.
“During the ‘Echelon-2026’ exercise, we are demonstrating to our colleagues from the CSTO member states how we perform logistics support tasks in a real combat situation. A rear support area has been established in the designated area to restore the combat readiness of units returning after completing combat tasks. Taking into account the experience of the special military operation, the main requirements for its arrangement are that it must be fully dug in and camouflaged to blend into the terrain. All facilities are of dugout type. They are fully autonomous and equipped with everything necessary to accommodate personnel, provide meals, and organize field bathing and laundry services,” Major General Sergei Spiridonov said during the practical training.
He also noted that special attention is paid to the safety of personnel when establishing rear support areas. All dugouts have camouflaged entrances, are mandatorily equipped with emergency exits for evacuation in case of an emergency, and provided with firefighting equipment.
Particular attention during the exercise is being paid to the deployment of field refueling points and the organization of evacuation and repair of damaged equipment under the threat of enemy UAV attacks. The exercise also includes practicing the organization of production activities at an assembly point for damaged vehicles.
In one of the areas, personnel of a combined logistics support battalion practiced tasks involving the delivery of materiel to the line of contact using modern ground-based robotic systems and UAVs, as well as the evacuation of wounded personnel and damaged equipment.
Representatives of the leadership of the “Echelon-2026” special exercise and logistics support services of the defense ministries of the CSTO member states were shown technical equipment used by the food service and various field rations produced in the Russian Federation.
The CSTO exercises at the Chebarkulsky training range involve contingents of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) from the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan. They include military contingents; special forces formations drawn from special units of internal affairs bodies (police), security agencies and special services, authorized bodies responsible for preventing and responding to emergencies; as well as operational groups from the CSTO Joint Staff and Secretariat. In total, approximately 2,000 servicemen and 350 items of weapons and military and special equipment are involved. The exercises feature extensive use of various types of UAVs and robotic systems, as well as the practice of troops' practical actions taking into account the experience of the special military operation.
