On June 23, 2026, a ceremonial event was held at the Advanced Training Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation to mark the 20th anniversary of the CSTO Collective Security Council's decision granting the Institute the status of the Basic Educational Institution for Continuing Professional Education of law enforcement and special service personnel of the CSTO member states in the fields of counterterrorism, combating extremism, illicit drug trafficking, illegal migration, and other forms of transnational organized crime, as well as for the training of specialists for peacekeeping missions and teaching staff of educational institutions.

"Interaction-2022" trainings with the participation of units from the CSTO CRRF formations of special forces were completed in the Republic of Kazakhstan 06.10.2022

On October 6, 2022 in Almaty region, on the basis of the Center for combat and methodical training of special forces of National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the command-staff training of the CSTO CRRF formations of special forces "Interaction-2022" were completed.

During the maneuvers, under the charge of the Deputy Commander of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major-General Baurzhan Abzhanov, the management bodies and units of the CSTO CRRF formations of special forces practiced various elements of joint operations to localize an armed conflict on the theme: "Preparation and conduct of joint operations to localize an armed conflict in the Central Asian region of collective security".

The main purpose of the trainings for the National Guard troops is to increase the level of field training and coherence of operations of the forces and means of collective security, working out new forms and ways of carrying out earmarked tasks in the course of the maneuvers, as well as mastery of modern models of weapons, military equipment and special means.

First of all, as part of the command-staff training, a command-staff training was conducted against a general tactical background on the maps of the operational staffs of the force formations with the CRRF. Further practiced the actions of anti-drug units to suppress a channel for the supply of narcotics and an independent operation to suppress the activities of a drug laboratory in a multi-story building, as well as a special operation to cleanse a settlement of illegal armed groups. Various search and rescue operations in the settlement with the use of canine teams and the elimination of the consequences of a chemical spill at the facility "Farmacenter". Particular attention was drawn to emergency rescue operations to eliminate the consequences of emergencies arising from combat operations. In addition, the plan included competitions in tactical and firearms training and tactical and special trainings with special units of the National Security Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard of Kazakhstan, as well as with participants in trainings from the CSTO member states.

These trainings demonstrated a well-coordinated mechanism of interagency cooperation between operational and special purpose units in practicing tactics to combat the elements of terrorism and extremism, illegal armed groups, elimination of the consequences of emergency situations, and the organization of comprehensive support of combat missions.

At the final stage of the trainings the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Yerkin Botakanov and the head of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, watched the trainings.

During the closing ceremony of the trainings, awards were given to the participants of the trainings of the military contingents, who demonstrated excellent training, cooperation and high military skills.

Yerkin Botakanov, the Deputy Minister of Interior and Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard, noted at the closing ceremony the importance of the CSTO in ensuring stability and security in the region and enhancing the professionalism of military personnel of the states participating in the organization. “In the course of the training, joint efforts developed practical skills of command officials in leading groups of CSTO Troops (Collective Forces), mastered new forms and ways of performing tasks and using modern weaponry, military and special equipment and special means. Training participants demonstrated the ability to take unconventional decisions in a difficult situation and to act boldly and in an organized manner”.

"The gained best practices of joint actions of special forces units of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Belarus, personnel of the service "A" of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Police Department of Almaty region, special purpose unit "Berkut" and flight personnel of the aviation of the National Guard of Kazakhstan contributes to their further improvement in maintaining peace and stability", - the Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard of Kazakhstan said.

In turn, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, noted that the skill shown at the training was a guarantee of our security, both internal and external. "It is the key to the fulfillment of any assigned task. Under these conditions, the CSTO units must be at constant readiness for their earmarked tasks. These joint trainings are the highest and most effective form of joint training of command bodies, formations of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system, one of the most important means of improving combat readiness and field training," he said at the closing ceremony of the trainings.

The awards ceremony ended with a solemn march of the training participants.
