On May 26 of this year, a round table entitled “35 Years of the Commonwealth of Independent States: Results, Tasks, and Prospects” was held at the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. On May 28, 2025, a regular meeting of the CSTO Council of Defense Ministers was held in Bishkek under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz side. The event was attended by Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov and Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, Chief of the Organization's Joint Staff.
The sides have discussed in detail the military and political situation in the CSTO area of responsibility and exchanged views on further development of the collective security system.
During the meeting, a number of documents were considered and approved concerning the planning of military cooperation between the CSTO member states for 2026-2030, the organization of joint training for the CSTO's command and control bodies and formations of the forces and means of the collective security system, the improvement of issues related to the management of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) and a number of others.
The meeting participants noted the high level of organization of the parade dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which was held on 9 May 2025 on Red Square in Moscow and in which military units of the CSTO member states took part.
