28 April marks the Day of the CSTO Joint Staff. It should be recalled that on 28 April 2003, in Dushanbe, the Collective Security Council, guided by the need to establish a military staff body responsible for implementing the military component of the Collective Security Treaty, adopted the Decision “On the Establishment of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”

On 27 April 2026, within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Contours of a New Architecture of Collective Security: Current Issues of Information and Analytical Partnership within the CSTO,” held at MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a round table entitled “Eurasian Analytical Platform: New Approaches in a New Geopolitical Reality” took place. During the event, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat Yuriy Shuvalov delivered a presentation on “The Eurasian Analytical Network: A New Cognitive Architecture of Collective Security.”

The Republic of Belarus hosted a meeting of the Working Group under the CSTO Defense Ministers Council to coordinate joint training of military personnel and scientific work 06.10.2023

On 4-6 October, the sixth meeting of the Working Group under the CSTO Defense Ministers' Council on coordination of joint military training and scientific work was held in the Republic of Belarus at the “Yanka Kupala State University in Grodno”.

Under the general supervision of Major General Viktor Lisovsky, the Deputy Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, the event was attended by the heads of the military education management bodies of defense departments of the CSTO member states, basic training and research organizations of the CSTO member states, representatives of the CSTO Joint Staff and invited guests.

To date, 12 military educational establishments of the CSTO member states have been given the status of the CSTO basic training and methodological organizations providing training in the following specialties: general military, air defense, missile forces and artillery, military air defense, communications, logistics, information security, electronic warfare, training of personnel of the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces, mine clearance, medical and pharmaceutical specialties, as well as the training of personnel responsible for ensuring the national security and defense capacity of the member states of the Organization.

Seven relevant research organizations and military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation have been given the status of basic research organizations of the CSTO, which carry out scientific-theoretical and scientific-practical study of issues related to the creation, improvement, training and use of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system in the field of research on air defense, missile defense, logistics, medical support, electronic warfare, military-technical cooperation of the Organization and problems of development, and problems of development and application of the aviation component of the CSTO.

Summing up the results of the event, Major General Viktor Lisovsky noted that the specialists managed to discuss topical issues of joint training of military personnel and scientific work in the CSTO system, develop proposals on how to enhance cooperation and outline ways to further improve the system of joint training of military personnel of the CSTO member states.
