During the “Conduct of combat operations” stage, two main training objectives are being practiced: the occupation by the national contingents of the CRDF CAR of the area of responsibility and the destruction of illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.
The active phase of the joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CRDF CAR) “Frontier-2026” has begun at the Koktal training range in the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the exercise, the participating forces are practicing the preparation and conduct of combat operations to destroy illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.
On September 11, 2026, a round table entitled “Kazakhstan–Central Asia–Greater Eurasia: resilience and security amid new challenges” was held at the Center for Social Conservative Policy. The event was organized by the CSTO Secretariat jointly with the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICCA RAS) and the Center for Social Conservative Policy (CSCP).
The event was attended by CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov, Director of the ICCA RAS Kirill Babaev, members of the CSTO Permanent Council and representatives of the academic and expert communities of the member states. The discussion was moderated by Yuri Shuvalov, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the CSTO Secretariat.

Participants in the joint trainings with the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the CSTO "Interaction-2025", special trainings "Search-2025" and "Echelon-2025" will regroup in the Republic of Belarus by August 29.
Contingents of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) are being sent from the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan to the areas of the trainings in accordance with the plan.
Trainings combining the preparation of various components of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) will be held on the territory of the Republic of Belarus at the “Losvido” and “Lepelsky” training grounds from August 31 to September 6.
The joint training with the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the CSTO "Interaction-2025" is aimed at working out the issues of preparing and conducting a joint operation to participate in resolving the crisis situation in the territory of the CSTO member state;
During the special training "Search-2025", issues of organizing and conducting reconnaissance in the interests of the CSTO CRRF will be worked out.;
The special training "Echelon-2025" provides for the elaboration of issues related to the organization of logistics.
The peculiarity of these trainings in 2025 is that their plans are closely linked to the plan of the joint strategic training of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation “West-2025”.
The Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov, speaking at a briefing yesterday, emphasized that the trainings conducted in the CSTO format were planned, were not directed against third countries and were aimed at improving the coherence of command bodies and troops, as well as maintaining the readiness of formations of forces and means to carry out tasks in the interests of ensuring collective security.
