The CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov told RIA Novosti, commenting on the terrorist attack in “Crocus City Hall” that terrorism was used in hybrid warfare, provoked inter-ethnic and inter-religious discord, so the CSTO member states needed tools to counter this phenomenon.
In the period from 12 to 13 March 2024, in the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a strategic command and staff training is being conducted under the supervision of Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov, Chief of the Joint Staff, during which issues related to stabilizing the situation in the Central Asian region of collective security in the context of the growing threat of a crisis situation are being worked out.

On 11 March 2024, the CSTO Secretariat hosted a round table on "Cooperation in the Information and Analytical Sphere to Ensure Collective Security" on the occasion of the Tajik Press Day. The event was attended by the Head of the Department for the Study of Regional Security Problems of the Strategic Research Centre under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sayhamid Sharifzoda, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the CSTO, Khasan Sultonov, and representatives of the Tajik media.
The CSTO joint training "Cobalt-2022" started in the Kyrgyz Republic, at the "Edelweiss" training range
03.08.2022On August 3, 2022 in the Kyrgyz Republic, at the “Edelweiss” training range in Balykchy, the opening ceremony of the tactical and special training "Cobalt-2022" with the special forces formations included in the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces (CRRF) took place.
The CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov made welcoming remarks at the event. Major General Oktyabr Urmambetov, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, noted that the purpose of the training was to prevent criminal activity in the member States, as well as close cooperation of the security agencies of the CSTO countries.
During the training, combined groups of special forces of the member states will perform training and applied operational and combat tasks of searching, blocking and neutralizing of gangs, terrorist groups, as well as closing drug smuggling channels and detection of caches, laboratories for the storage and production of drugs and their destruction.
The training plan calls for a command and staff training with the Operational Staff of the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Forces formations of special forces on planning a special operation and organizing interaction and management of dissimilar forces and equipment. At the end of the training, there will be shooting competitions using various types of weapons as well as sports competitions in soccer and volleyball among the teams of the training participants. The training will continue until 5 August, 2022.
