On June 23, 2026, a ceremonial event was held at the Advanced Training Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation to mark the 20th anniversary of the CSTO Collective Security Council's decision granting the Institute the status of the Basic Educational Institution for Continuing Professional Education of law enforcement and special service personnel of the CSTO member states in the fields of counterterrorism, combating extremism, illicit drug trafficking, illegal migration, and other forms of transnational organized crime, as well as for the training of specialists for peacekeeping missions and teaching staff of educational institutions.

The fifth meeting of the Coordinating Council of Authorized Bodies of the CSTO Member States on Biological Safety Issues was held 29.08.2025

On August 28, 2025, in Bosteri village, Issyk-Kul region of the Kyrgyz Republic, the fifth meeting of the Coordinating Council of Authorized Bodies of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States on Biological Safety Issues was held.

The event was held under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting was attended by the delegations of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the CSTO Secretariat.

The participants have discussed topical issues of ensuring biosafety in the CSTO space, exchanged information on national measures to prevent and respond to biological threats, and assessed the level of cooperation between competent authorities in this area.

During the meeting, the key areas of activity of the Coordinating Council within the framework of the implementation of the Biosafety Action Plan for 2024-2025 were considered. The heads of the national units informed their colleagues about the implementation of the planned activities and outlined further steps to strengthen regional resilience to biological risks.

Special attention was paid to the analysis of current and potential threats to biosafety. The parties exchanged views on current challenges, including the cross-border spread of particularly dangerous infections, and also determined the time frame for preparing a joint analysis of the biosafety situation in the CSTO space.

Following the meeting, it was decided to transfer the chairmanship of the Coordinating Council to the head of the national part of the Russian Federation in 2026.

The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere and confirmed the commitment of the CSTO member states to strengthen cooperation in order to ensure a sustainable and effective collective biosafety system in the Organization's area of responsibility.
