The event was attended by the Head of the Department for the Study of Regional Security Problems of the Strategic Research Centre under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sayhamid Sharifzoda, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the CSTO, Khasan Sultonov, and representatives of the Tajik media.
The first meeting of the CSTO Working Group under the Council of Defense Ministers on electronic warfare was held
07.06.2021On June 4, this year, at the CSTO Joint Staff in Moscow, the first meeting of the CSTO Working Group under the Council of Defense Ministers on electronic warfare was held.
The meeting, chaired by Lieutenant General Yuri Lastochkin, Chief of Electronic Warfare Forces of the Russian Federation, was attended by heads and representatives of specialized structures of defense agencies of the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the CSTO Secretariat.
In his opening remarks, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, the Head of the CSTO Joint Staff, said that despite the difficult sanitary and epidemiological situation, it was possible to organize the first meeting of the Working Group in a face-to-face format. He noted that the Working Group was established by decision of the Council of Defense Ministers of September 4, 2020, at the initiative of the CSTO Joint Staff in order to consolidate efforts to realize the potential of military command bodies, specialized training and methodological, research organizations, industrial enterprises, other state and public organizations of the CSTO member states on issues of radioelectronic warfare. The work is carried out in the interests of the components of the CSTO Collective Forces and is aimed at improving the effectiveness of the use of the assets of the CSTO collective security system.
Meeting participants heard information from Lieutenant General Anatoly Yakovlev, Head of the CSTO Military (Collective Forces) Planning Command - Deputy Head of the CSTO Military (Collective Forces) Planning and Training Centre, on the prospects for the development of the CSTO force potential. A representative of the Headquarters of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Federation presented information on the electronic warfare capabilities belonging to the CSTO forces (Collective Forces).
The meeting has discussed the prospects for the development of radioelectronic warfare weapons in the armed forces of CSTO member states, as well as the prospects for training military electronic warfare specialists of the armed forces of CSTO member states in the educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
