On June 3, 2026, a regular meeting of the CSTO Council of Defense Ministers (CDM) was held at the Patriot Central Park of the Russian Ministry of Defense under the chairmanship of the Russian side. The working meeting was also attended by the CSTO Secretariat members and representatives of the ICRC Regional Delegation to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
In the course of the working meeting there was an exchange of views on the humanitarian situation in the CSTO areas of responsibility and border areas in a situation of growing international tension.
The meeting participants noted the positive results of joint work this year and identified key areas for further interaction, and also discussed the procedure for the CSTO member States to agree on the participation of ICRC representatives in the command and staff trainings with the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces "Interaction-2022" and with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces "Indestructible Brotherhood-2022".
One of the important results of the meeting was the confirmation of mutual interest in working together to develop cooperation between the CSTO Secretariat and the ICRC on key areas of international humanitarian law.
