Today, the active phase of the joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CRDF CAR) “Frontier-2026” concluded on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the “Conduct of combat operations” stage, two main training objectives are being practiced: the occupation by the national contingents of the CRDF CAR of the area of responsibility and the destruction of illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.
The active phase of the joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CRDF CAR) “Frontier-2026” has begun at the Koktal training range in the Republic of Kazakhstan. On 9 April 2026, a meeting was held in Dushanbe between CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov and Secretary of the Security Council of Tajikistan Rahmon Yusuf Ahmadzoda.
The parties held a substantive exchange of views on the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility, as well as in a number of other regions of the world. Particular attention was paid to issues related to the implementation of the Targeted Inter-State Program for strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border.
Talatbek Masadykov informed about the progress in implementing the Action Plan for the execution of decisions adopted at the November (2025) session of the CSTO Collective Security Council and the Organization’s priority areas of activity during Russia’s chairmanship, including preparations for upcoming meetings of the CSTO statutory bodies.
The Secretary General also outlined plans for holding joint exercises “Cobalt” and “Skala” in the second half of the year, which will take place on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as operational and preventive operations “Kanal”, “Mercenary” and “Illegal”.
