On October 30, 2026, the results of the “Channel-Caspian Lighthouse” subregional anti-drug operation were summed up as part of the implementation of the 2026 Plan of Key Activities of the Coordinating Council of Heads of Competent Drug Control Authorities of CSTO Member States (CCHCDCA).
From October 18 to 23 this year, in accordance with the 2026 Plan for the Joint Training of Command and Control Bodies and Formations of Forces and Assets of the Collective Security System of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the “Cobalt-2026” special exercise was held at the Magob training range of the Special Purpose Units Training Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

On 13 April 2026, a meeting was held in Astana between CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Talatbek Masadykov congratulated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the adoption of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and expressed confidence that this event will give a significant impetus to the country’s comprehensive development and contribute to enhancing its role in international affairs.
The parties held a substantive exchange of views on a wide range of issues of international policy and security, expressing serious concern over developments in the Middle East. Considerable attention was paid to the situation in Afghanistan. In this context, the CSTO Secretary General informed about the progress in implementing the CSTO Targeted Inter-State Program for strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border.
Among the key areas of current joint work, the Secretary General highlighted preparations for upcoming meetings of the CSTO statutory bodies — the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils.
Talatbek Masadykov also informed about the progress in implementing the Action Plan for the execution of decisions adopted at the November (2025) session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, the Organization’s priority areas of activity during Russia’s chairmanship, and preparations for the series of large-scale joint exercises scheduled for the second half of the year, including “Rubezh-2026”, which will be held at the Koktal training ground in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
