In the Russian Federation, at the Chebarkulsky training range, reconnaissance groups have begun practicing practical actions in designated areas as part of the CSTO special exercise with reconnaissance forces and assets “Search-2026”.

The theme of the “Search-2026” special exercise is the organization and conduct of reconnaissance by reconnaissance agencies’ forces and assets during the localization of a cross-border armed conflict.

The main objective of the exercise is to conduct various types of reconnaissance in the interests of employing the CSTO Collective Operational Reaction Forces, as well as to improve the practical skills of command and control bodies and personnel of reconnaissance units.

Reconnaissance elements deployed in advance are detecting the simulated adversary. During special operations to deliver fire strikes against identified targets, the groups use reconnaissance and strike FPV drones, as well as adjust artillery and aviation fire to destroy the detected targets.

At the same time, reconnaissance command and control bodies collect, analyze and consolidate the intelligence obtained and convey it to the CORF Command, making it possible to implement the “detect and strike” principle.

During the exercise, when planning and selecting methods for accomplishing tasks, reconnaissance personnel take into account the experience of combat operations in modern armed conflicts.

In the Russian Federation, the command-and-staff exercise with the CSTO Collective Operational Reaction Forces “Interaction-2026”, aimed at practicing the preparation and conduct of a joint operation to localize a cross-border armed conflict, the special exercise with reconnaissance forces and assets “Search-2026”, and the special exercise with logistics forces and assets “Echelon-2026” are being held.

The exercises involve contingents of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) from the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan. They include military contingents; special forces formations drawn from special units of internal affairs bodies (police), security agencies and special services, authorized bodies responsible for preventing and responding to emergencies; as well as operational groups from the CSTO Joint Staff and Secretariat. In total, approximately 2,000 servicemen and 350 items of weapons and military and special equipment are involved. The exercises feature extensive use of various types of UAVs and robotic systems, as well as the practice of troops' practical actions taking into account the experience of the special military operation.
